Speaking of classic games, I need to download some onto my phone so i can play it at work. It's so boring here...
Pokemon is one that comes to mind.
Master System
Mega drive
Dream cast
N64
Ps1
Ps2
Xbox
Wii
Xbox 360.
I don't see any point in choosing with the new generation for at least a year yet due to the lack of games. They're both overpriced currently for me too.
To the OP, in the last gen (PS3/360), multi platform games were said to run better on the 360, but as of this gen so far, they have all ran on the PS4 better, and generally at better frame rates and higher resolution for many games. The X1 is going to struggle to keep up with 1080p at 60 FPS much of the time..
At the moment there is no point buying either, may as well wait until at least Christmas, by which time there will be GTA V (if he hasn't played it) remastered for X1 and PS4, Destiny, AC, COD, FIFA all out etc.
For multi platform games this time around the PS4 is currently performing better but it's down to whatever your game preferences are really.
I'm a Playstation 'man' (I say that loosely when it comes to gaming ) myself and probably always will be, although I do miss Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros!

That was purely a firmware upgrade wasn't it?
I have both and there isn't a huge amount between them. The one is a better family system, the kinect is good and links well with your TV box. Being able to just say to go to tv whilst playing a game and then tell it to launch the game and start right back where you were sounds small but is cool.
The ps4 has a better selection of games at the moment but if you plan on getting fifa 15, Xbox has exclusive rights to the legends on FUT. Keane and Schmeichel are being added this year.
I mainly use consoles to play fifa so if I had to pick, the legends on Xbox would make me get the Xbox. The browser on the ps4 is horrific as well.
As a pure gaming console, ps4 gets my vote, as an overall casual family gaming and entertainment system, the one wins hands down.
The last of us remastered, uncharted 4, infamous, the order, drive club, until dawn and bloodbourne are reasons why out of the 2 you have to get a ps4.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions lads, much appreciated.
