Well Woodward said we can break the transfer record so therefore why can't we get both for around 90-100m?
-------------------------
then my luke warmness would thaw.
I don't rate Di Maria quite as highly as some, but he would be a hell of a lot better than what we have.
My only concern would be where it leaves Januzaj (Unless LvG is planning on the unthinkable and benching RVP)

If there was no letter D, Edward Woodward would be called Ewar Woowar. Great name.
Just because we need a cm more than a winger, doesn't make our need for a winger any less.
We need 2x cm, 2x wingers, 2x cb and 1x right back before we can even consider competing in Europe again, and all of these players need to be in the top tier or two of players.

Now now Macca. Stop throwing stones from the safety of your own greenhouse.
I'd be delighted to get di Maria.
If we did get him it would raise questions of how we will play though. Even though he has a good engine and will work his socks off I believe he would be wasted as a wingback and would suit a 433 or 4231 formation far better. But then where does that leave our attacking trio?
As I've said before if di Maria coming in means a switch to 433, using pace on the wings but also that one of our attacking trio has to be dropped then so be it. We got to think about what's best for the team, not how can we fit all out best players in.
The situation is already embarrassing i don't really care how much we spend on players anymore, everybody else is spending big

As Arab said. Sky claim to have been told we have currently have no bids in place for any player.
Id love to know who told them that lol. Surely the only person that would know that would be LVG or Woodward??
An awful lot of guessing work going on by some very desperate people / journalists desperate for some kind of scoop.

I agree.
Di Maria -- Rooney -- Januzaj
---------------Mata---------------
---------Herrera--Carrick-------
Shaw---Rojo--Jones--Rafael
-------------De Gea-------------
Even though the defence still scares the shít out of me, and the midfield severely lacks pace, I'd prefer to see that to the current formation.
My only issue is Mata, I think there is a growing trend at the moment with having a quick and direct players in behind the striker rather than the current playmaker type, e.g Sterling, Robben in WC, Di Maria at his best last season ect. Somebody who can get in behind the striker.
Reddevils double
Come on, there are other ways news can get leaked.
I'm not suggesting believe everything you read, far from it, but information does get leaked. How did the press know we were interested in Vermealen or Rojo before bids were made?
Not every piece of transfer news has to come directly from LVG or Woodward, I'm assuming lots of people are used in sorting out a transfer.
How do you solve a problem like Di Maria?

Agreed, that instantly looks more balances with pace on the wings, and no one really out of position. The main concern would still be midfield, it's too weak and would rely on Mata to offer more defensive support which I wish he didn't have to do.

Di Maria is exactly the sort of winger we've been crying out for.
But not at the expense of a quality cm.
Darren
No reason why it should hinder any possible CM transfer though.
Your squad is desperately crying out for quality throughout - all the defensive positions, all the midfield areas and the wings. On the positive side you have a good keeper and strikers.
