How many world class players in our squad?

I'd say we have 5. Courtois, Cech, Terry, Fabregas and Hazard.

From outside perspective
Both goalies
Fabregas

Hazard need consistency and Costa looks like he had what it takes.

Rather than them necessarily be 'world class' I think more top quality players who are just as good as any one in their position.

Courtois, Cech.
Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta.
Fabregas, Matic.
D.Costa, Hazard, Drogba.

Does it matter?

If the term means that a player would literally get in any team in the world then yeah it's a crock. Would mean that there is only one world class keeper at any time.

I would say to be a world class player, you have to be undoubtedly amongst the elite in your position. Is a striker on the same level as Ibra and Suarez? A winger on the level of Di Maria and Robben?

Based on that, id say Chelsea have Cech, Courtois, Fabregas and Hazard who are world class.

Pretty much this except Terry imo. He definitely used to be but now he's tailed off a bit. Our low-block defensive system last season helped cover up his weaknesses.

Cesc failed to really establish himself at Barca or for Spain, two teams that should suit him perfectly, so fails to make what I would call World Class.
Cech was, but don't think he is there any more. He has been passed by a few, IMO.
Courtois is probably close to the very elite keepers, although maybe a bit early to class him as world class. Maybe not, who knows?
Wouldn't have Hazard there.
Terry is PL class, no doubt, but world class? Again I have him falling a bit short.

I personally find it hard to see a genuinely world class player in the PL.

But it is all about opinions.

Aguero, Toure I would say. Maybe one or two at Chelsea, but definitely Aguero.

JT is without doubt world class.

He's so underrated nowadays. Might be a caaant but he's still the best defender on these shores and one of the top cb's in Europe.

JT, Fabregas, Costa, Schurrle, Courtois, Cech, not Hazard yet though.

Schurrle world champion = world class

He would get in every team in the pl, I'd class that as world class.

My definition of world class is that if you were to pick a 23 man world cup squad but with every player available, that player would have a chance of making it

posted on 20/8/14

Yet you keep saying Rooney's world class and he wouldn't have a chance of making it.

can you have a world class team without any world class players? if so i couldnt care less if any of ours are. its a team sport guys. bragging about trophies is far ore satisfying than bragging about an individual player

posted on 20/8/14

If Schurrle is world class half our squad is world class

I'd say Cech, Courtois, Terry, Fabregas and maybe Hazard are world class. Luis, Azpi, Matic and Costa all had world class seasons last season.

Cech, Courtois and Terry

Ivanovic, Hazard and Fabregas are close
