In terms of money and and expectation, who has been the biggest flop in PL history?
_______
What about money regained, for example 35m Carroll but regained 17.5m?

Sheva disappointed me be it wasnt a mental problem for him like Torres. His legs had just gone by the time he moved to us. He tried hard and i remember him for that

Shevchenko has to be right up there in terms of flops, even if it was the back end of his career....

Mutu was another but failed for personal reasons rather than ability, he was very talented.....

Taibi was a massive flop too

Calling Mutu a flop doesnt really do the situation justice. It had nothing to do with performance

Id have to say Torres.
He was on the wane at Liverpool and we stil bought him. For 50m.

Instead of an individual player can I say Spurs?

Almost £500m spent, 12 different managers (not including caretaker managers) and nothing much to show for it.

Veron. Two massive fees, a massive rep, never reached anywhere near expectations.

Carroll and Downing for us lot I think, Aqua didn't really flop he never fecking played El hadj diouf 10m , Keane 19m.

All I can think of, Carroll and Keane our worst but we got 17.5m and 12m back for them thankfully dno how.

Veron flopped twice in the prem. Once for United and then for Chelsea.

Do managers count? If so AVB. Came with a big reputation as one of the world's best young managers and was touted as the next Jose Mourinho.

Yep .............Spurs, Liverpool and AVB get my vote

Don't ruin it by mentioning us Biggish.

I was setting it all up so we could all just laugh at Spurs.

As much disdain as I have for Torres, I think Shevchenko was a bigger flop. Torres scores a sneaky amount of goals against crap opposition and he helped us win a couple of important games over the years. Shevchenko was utterly useless, I think he scored like 4 goals one season or something. Unless you argue that he freed up Drogba - because I think Drogba had his breakout season with us when Sheva joined. He was still crap though.

Successes (teams): Swansea (taking into account where they were around a decade ago), Wigan despite their relegation in 2013.

At least one of Liverpool's big signings from this summer will flop. Probably Lambert but i doubt expectations are particularly high. Markovic probably has the biggest question mark hanging over him

I think Sanchez will sort of flop. I mean he'll be OK, but more like an Arshavin or Rosicky when they're hoping for a Suarez.

Solid reasoning TGI.
