Brilliant, just as I expected.
So glad we let Chelsea have Cesc, money in the bank is so much more important than having world class players on the pitch.
Its pretty obvious another striker won't be bought.
Looking that way isn't it?
I feared that was going to be the case when wenger started going on abt new contacts. Oh well. Let's hope Walcott comes back ready and firing or it's going to be the same old. The anger that's going to hit Giroud will be on par with Eboue if he doesn't live up to Wengers confidence.
We will once again be going into a new season one or two players short.
It's not giroud fault, blame is fully with wenger
It may not be Giroud's fault. But the home crowd will be merciless. And foreign fans doing the usual cult thing to prove they are player fans rather than Arsenal fans will cause more friction. Don't see a positive outcome for Wenger to talk up Giroud. It only heaps more pressure on him and it builds expectation.
I hope Giroud scores 25 prem goals.
What happens when Giroud gets injured? Sanogo is arguably one of the worst strikers in top flight football, Wenger having so much faith in him is going to really haunt us once the injuries start piling up.
The anger that's going to hit Giroud will be on par with Eboue if he doesn't live up to Wengers confidence.
_________
Well the anger that hits him is already there when games not going our way.
If giroud gets injured, sanogo will probably be injured as well.
He is on par with Diaby when it comes to sick leave

Ja606 is not the stadium Gunnerthru. Twitter is precursor to what he can expect directly. It can be horrible and no one deserves it. And when it happens there is very little chance of sticking it out. The manager does not help by heightening expectation. Giroud is a known quantity and is 28 next month. He is not 23 ready to have a meteoric rise. Wenger has to be more careful with his hyperbole.
The reason why there was a lot of positive reaction for his very good performance in the second half at Everton was because the expectation was low after Beskitas. And now Wenger has just put all the pressure on him to score 25 league goals and win us the title. Good luck to that!
I wouldn't want to sell giroud and he would be an excellent choice of the bench.
We will never get the right team under wenger unfortunately.
Deep down I think he is happy for another top four finish and a cup run.
There's still more to celebrate from Giroud even if he isn't young. A player can always improve mentally and with their technique even if they are not improving physically. He won't have a "meteoric" rise but he can polish off elements of his game. A polished version of Giroud would get a lot of goals for us without being spectacular.

True Jenius but my TL on twitter is not different and I dont follow the JA combo.
Anyway I dont expect OG to rise to a world class player like Aguero, Suarez or in that mould but he is decent enough to play a role in our team. Like it or not but Wenger count on him.

That's interesting Castor and I agree with you in saying that Wenger wont find the right team.
In my view he has already make mistakes in the transfer window. Hope he doesnt continue with his mistakes in his tactical approach of the game.
He does have a role and this was highlighted clearly on Saturday.
However, if we want to beat the very best and challenge in all competitions, a striker force of giroud and sanogo is not good enough.
It's criminal that our second striker is sanogo. Who knows, he might come good in a few years but relying on him at this stage is just madness from wenger.
Wenger now looks at quantity rather than quality. He will say I have Walcott, Sanchez etc but these guys are not seasoned central strikers.
Wenger does exactly the same with the DM position. We have arteta he will say, then flamini and won't be surprised if he now even puts chambers in that bracket to justify that we don't need a DM.
Yes all these players can play in those positions but it's about quality which wenger has lost sight of.
"We have Sanogo who will be an important asset, we have Giroud, we have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre forward. We have Alexis and Walcott coming back. Let's not forget that.
"All of our opponents look for strikers as well and nobody finds a world-class striker available who is better than the strikers you have."

I agree with you Castor that Giroud/Sanogo as a striker force is not good enough to compete. It's also true what Wenger said that all big teams are looking for world class strikers available. There are only a few who I would class as world class and they are not available or we couldnt finance.
So if you take that in consideration Wenger should change our tactial approach to put the pressure away from a lone striker whoever plays upfront. Its predicatable and the guy upfront has to take every little chance that comes his way. Early days though and Theo comes back soon. Time for many changes around our team. We can't go on like we did in the first half in Everton.
Don't think we can claim that world class strikers are out of our reach financially.
What was it Gazidis said again? We can afford anyone other than Ronaldo, Messi and Bale?
Either it's blatant lies again, or Wenger is too scared to go all out on a top striker.
Can't wait for Walcott to return but he is going to need time.
His injury last season was the reason why we collapsed to a certain degree.
Well it looks like pod is on his way out so that's another striker down.
'Either it's blatant lies again, or Wenger is too scared to go all out on a top striker.'
It's Wenger's reluctance to spend and his misplaced faith in Giroud/Sanogo which will be our undoing again. this season. 100m in the bank and we have the worst strikeforce out all the top 8 clubs.
It's also extremely poor man management to put the pressure on Giroud and Sanogo like Wenger has. It's all well and good listing the players he thinks can play centre forward, but only two of them are centre forwards.....and neither of them are good enough.
Wenger thinks podolski and campbell can play as a CF, they aint center forwards ffs
Wenger also thought Arshavin could play as a CF, remember how well that worked out?
Imagine if Giroud gets injured, we're basically relying on someone who has never scored a top flight to challenge for the league and the CL. I think this really is the height of incompetence especially when you consider how much money there is in the bank.
