The fee shouldn't matter at all, unless he proves to be a big big flop, which I highly doubt.
We have quality in attack, now we need quality in midfield.
Di Maria will get all the players excited too, they will love having him in the team.
And wow, a serious article from you Dinc, I'm impressed
I wanted Vidal in, but Di Maria is a superb signing, all the haters are just jealous
It's a great signing, I guess the only cause for negativity is if this concludes our business.
I think it is safe to assume that £64m would have sealed a deal for Vidal, so that will always be in the back of the mind.
Would a world class CM steady the ship more than a WC wide man, I would say so.
I actually think we will bring in another signing or two though, so it is looking like time!

The criteria for whether it is a signing United need should be as follows:
1. Will he drastically improve the first team?
2. Is he available?
3. Can we afford him?
If the three answers are yes (as is in this case) then go for it I say.
I know 63mil is a lot but we make a load of money so we should be able to afford it.
Those neighbours across the road go to Spain for a week and it costs them £5,000 whereas I go and it costs me £500. It's all relative. We're both going to Spain but their quality should be better.

Too many twonks on here complaining about the lack of signings and then when we do make one they complain about the fee.

It is genuinely funny.
"Wwwhhhhyyyy can't we sign big names "
"Wwwhhhhyyyy have we paid so much for big names "
I'm not just a pretty face guys
I agree Dunc, we do need a midfielder and a defender, but needing those positions doesn't change the fact that we also need quality from wide.
Just because we haven't signed the cm or cb first doesn't mean they aren't on the list of to do jobs, it might just be that we haven't found the right player to spend £30m/£40m on, and clearly LVG feels Di Maria is the man he wants for the required role.

Lots of people pretending to be United fans on this board, just for the sake of wumming.
Quite how people can complain day in day out about Nani, Valencia and Young, then whine once we get someone of top quality in to replace thenm really does beggar belief.

But guys where would be the fun in that? I mean if everyone agreed to something, we will all have articles in which the comments would be 'good point'.
No debate, no controversy, etc. Where is the fun in that?
As far as I can see......it's not United fans moaning about the price. It's the abu's that are saying it's too much (because they don't want ADM at Utd)
Can we afford it? Yes otherwise we wouldn't be signing him would we?
Is he a top player? Most definitely.
Nothing more needs saying.

It's relative and hence, debatable.
Great buy, can't wait to see him in action. This is the quality a club like United should be after.
Let's just hope we don't shove him in a wingback role!
I think ADM is a fantastic signing and sends out a good message. More than a message he gives us the pace (with brains) that we severely lack.
There will always be arguments about his price, whether we need a CM more etc.
I for one also believe, that we should have held out till deadline day to test RM's nerves and probably get a better deal but its not a big issue.
Oh and when we have Di Maria and Januzaj on either side of the pitch (hopefully), we'll wonder why we have had to out up with Young, Nani and Valencia for te past 4 seasons.
These days, as soon as the ball goes wide to Valencia or Young (as it usually does with our slow passing), you can almost guarantee a wasted cross.
Who shall we raid our feeder club for next ?
I'd take Varane or Ramos

Khedira. And I am not one of his biggest fans. But I just can't watch Fletch and Cleverley anymore. It is depressing.
Exprcting 30odd assists + goals or hes a flop
Madrid have confirmed Khedira is staying. He's going to be available on a free next summer unless he agrees to a new contract (even though he's already rejected one).
I can see him joining Bayern for nothing next summer.
VC, I thought you'd go for Modric
it has been well documented on here the type of player we have been lacking for a number of years now. ADM isnt one of those.
Sign in if you want to comment
Di Maria is exactly the signing we need
