Roo,
I just don't think it's right that clubs can do a lot of preseason planning with a squad and then someone could come along and make a bid after football has already been played (like Arsenal with Cabaye last year), I would prefer the January transfer window to only run from the end of the 18th game until the start of the 19th as well.
The two weeks when football is played and the window is open is too much of a soap opera for me as well!
"I'm no mind reader, but i'm guessing it might have something to do with the constant whinging going on about what players we need and how we are fecking up."
Yep, that's a big part of it!
I have absolutely no idea why you don't throw £15-20m in to the Di Maria deal and get Illaramendi. He is quality.
Or if you scouted Herrera as much as claimed then how has Ituraspe managed to go unnoticed.

I suppose it depends on wether the selling club wants rid of the player or not. In a window were there has been a major international tournament when effectively all business at the top end ceases I think the extra couple of weeks is probably needed. But yeh it has to be frustrating as hell for clubs having their players head turned by offers early into the season
It's more that Roo, I don't think it's right that a player could potentially play the same team three times in a season as well. Domestic transfers at least, close it at the start of the season.
Either that or scrap it completely, not the halfway house it currently is now.

Personally, i would make the transfer window close before the season starts.

why ?

What is amazing here is that you have to ask why.

dont see whats amazing about it VC
its something I personally hadnt put too much thaught into so I asked melton why...
Like I said from utds perspective this window we mightened have got di maria or any other signing between now and the end of the window if window closed before the start of the season.
You would have done Roo, it just would have happened by now and people can concentrate on the football!

Well it really is simple.
What is the point starting the season when there is still a month to go in transfers?

fair enough
clubs will adjust to whatever timeframe they are alloted. As a utd fan I will take these extra few days for van gaal to get in the players we need and they can change it next season if they want. Personally I havent any strong views either way too be honest.
It's less impactful to you as rarely will clubs come in to buy your players unless they are surplus to requirements.

actually there are a number of our players I would love to see clubs come in for this window.
As far as the window and the smaller clubs I would imagine there is a reality that if they have a talent on their books and a bigger club comes sniffing they are most likely going to lose the player. Most accept this and play the game to increase the transfer fee while having targets of their own in mind.
Its quite obvious this whole window situation especially the last day has grown into a media event in itself so from that point of view I cant see it ending anytime soon if sky have anything to do with it.
Exactly roo, it's a product in itself!
For you guys, I meant less impactful in terms of they are players you want to leave anyway!
