You would think fans would have got this by now.

Vidic has been linked with a move away for years because his wife hated Manchester. I guess at his age, with the change in regime and the very good offer from inter that now was as good a time as any.

No. For me, this is the type of transfer window we needed straight after SAF went. vidic, rio, giggs needed to go as did some of the very average players we had gathered with 2, 3 or 4 top quality players coming in with a season to bed in before making a challenge this year.

I think people are forgetting how often Vidic was injured over the last few years and how poor he was last season when fit. Not convinced he'd have made much difference tbh

Vidic would have made a helluva difference IMO. Just the experience and leadership he would provide would be important. I couldn't see a Utd with Rio, Vidic, Giggs and others of similar ilk going down 4-0 to a league 1 team, ever!

You guys owed it to the man to let him go and avoid putting him through this. Class move by the club

soccer?lol.

Spot on.

Vidic was a sending off waiting to happen, due to his severe lack of pace.

Due to Vids injuries I would say Wes Brown is quicker than him, and we all know how injury has slowed Wes.

But they would have all been 'rested' for the game anyway. Bottom line is that whoever played yesterday should have been more than good enough to win, regardless of the number of changes. It was a terrible performance and LVG should be criticised for it, and I say that as someone who believes he will turn it around long-term.

He is still better than what you have now.

Not here to gloat, but you must have serious concerns about your CB options this season.

Rojo looks a good signing. Played at LB for his country but according to reports wants to be a CB at club level. It will be interesting to see if he can be as good as a CB.

Having Smalling, Evans and Jones (who really hasn't kicked on as he should have) does not bode well for the coming season.

Now I know that our defense is a bit cr ap, but hopefully that will sort its self out once the new boys have settled.

Right time for him to move

Not sure it's our defence that is the main issue with this season's two league performances so far

Slow tactics, midfield and attack looking like strangers. Poor down the flanks

Both Vidic and Rio were well past their bests

I will only have concerns if LVG doesn't bring in a decent DM.

People are reading way to much into last nights game. This was a bunch of youngsters and fringe players thrown together without any thought what so ever.

What a nonsensical statement.

You do realise at their peak, against a league one side, those players would have been sat at home right?

First choice CB's. aside from evans, were not there. And that was Evans first game in God knows how long

Vidic would not have made a difference last night sat in his front room would he

The system is entirely to blame for this, you can't expect footballers who've never played in that system to suddenly pull it off. Look at who was out there, how often have they honestly played in that system?

The second goal sums it all up, we have 3 CB's yet, Anderson was the closest person to Grigg who scored the second goal with his chest. Surely that sums up the tactics for us?!

I can tell you one thing, this wouldn't have happened under Moyes...

Not really

Last night we had a reserve CB and a reserve RB playing there

Hopefully, 433 might be the way now we have Di Maria and I'm happy to see Jones Smalling and Rojo get regular games there

Of course I'd like a WC CB in there but rather see us get the beast in midfield we need to play in front of them

Vidic was awful last season and the season before.

What difference would he have made exactly?

I think people are reading to much into the system and not really thinking of the players we have in it instead.

This system can not possibly work if the CM players and the wing backs keep passing back to the CB's.

Many will disagree but I think wes brown is a loss. Look how well he has done since leaving us. Much needed experience as well

For me, I could not understand what van Gaal is doing with Januzaj. You would think yesterday was an obvious swap with Kagawa. He was very much pushing our game play forward and Januzaj would have done the same, yet had him sitting in midfield

I think the tactics are a big part so far VC in all honesty.

This passing backwards is so rife. Last night, the players were so far apart from each other it was unreal for me. The number of times I counted a player on the ball not having a forward option within 40 yards was unreal. There were no intricate close passing, no traingles, no one twos, nothing exept players getting passes cut out because MK were shadow marking the huge gaps between the players as well as pressing the ball.

It was all so easy.

Ando in the first half was actually trying to play it forward or move forward with it but even then, the outlets he was getting were virtually non existent. Players were just not coming looking for the ball. I was screaming at the TV for them to do it

Yes, our team was well below normal standard obviously but this was MK Dons.

I have to say I was really surprised when I heard he wasn't staying. Even if he isn't the player he once was, he's a great example set to the younger players like Jones and Smalling. CB is probably the position most in football where experience proves the most valuable- all the top centre backs tend to be in their late twenties and even over 30. His experience and advice was surely worth keeping him for IMO.
