my bad....when all players are fit
Rumours that LvG doesnt rate rafael. So if we return to 4 at the back, as i hope we do, who will play right back?
If 4-3-3 with current personal...
-------------------DDG
Rafa------Jones-------Rojo--------Shaw
-----------------Carrick
--------Herrera--------------Mata
Di Maria--------RooVP----------Januzaj
Rojo is a gamble as I haven't seen enough of him, but the others are hardly making a name for themselves.
Rooney or RVP, don't think we can have those two and Mata in one team.
Is Rojo any good?
Looking at our team, it doesn't look that bad.
Now just to see them all play together...
Doesnt look like formation will change going by the post match Press Conference
The stupid thing is, during preseason we looked better when we changed to a 4-3-3 or variation of and ended up winning games.
Why not do that now during games that matter
The big problem imo, is that I don't feel Mata has the discipline to play in a 4-3-3. We'd have to play a 4-3-2-1 which means we really need a proper defensive midfielder alongside Herrera, no good buying a Vidal imo.
LvG did say in an interview last night that with di Maria coming he may change formation. Even in an older interview he claimed he didnt have good wingers like Ronaldo or Di Maria so thats we he opted for 532.
I'm hoping he changes it. i just dont like it.
why not spend £10m on de jong for this season and get a better cm for next year if we get CL spot
-------------------DDG
Rafa------Jones-------Rojo--------Shaw
------------Carrick----Herrera-----------
Di maria----------Mata----------Januzaj
-------------------RooVP----------
The defence is simply not good enough.Along with the CM
Herrera and Carrick are decent, but I still feel 2x CM are required before we even think of challenging for a title, by that point Carrick will also need replacing.
Even though we have signed Di Maria, I'd also argue we need another winger, Januzaj is raw and Young/ Valencia are again sub standard.
DDG
rafa smalling - evans - shaw
insert right winger - herrera - carrick (shudder) di amria
mata
rvp/rooney
the defence in the centre is awful and fo rme rafa has one more season to prove he can stay fit for the majority, we only have about 40 games now so its not hard.

With rojo/Shaw boming down the wing and Mata coming filling in the left occasionally, allowing Rooney to come in abd join Rvp upfront.
But you did so well in pre-season with three at the back and those same players won the league two years ago. I don't understand because Holland had a really really good world cup and stuff.
Funny how everyone has Rojo in their starting XIs yet none of you have ever seen him play CB.
Even if he is the real deal, I doubt an Argentine who has never played in England, doesn't speak the language will be trusted to start games in a 2 man CB right away.
Personally, I feel Jones and Smalling can become a strong CB partnership if given a proper chance. Evans was always an accident waiting to happen, this has been the case ever since he broke through and it was evident again yesterday
Rojo is not a cb. You'll see.
Strongest first 11 for me, if everyone is fit
De Gea
Rafael-------Smalling----------Jones---------------Rojo
Herrera------------Anderson
Di Maria-----------Mata-----------------Rooney/Adnan
RvP/Rooney
Viv Anderson retired years ago MUDD but I agree he could still improve your midfield.
Shaw has Koala tea he'd be in my team for you lot.
Rooney, Mata, RvP cannot be in the same team unless there is a diamond imo. The only other way to get them in is to have 3 at the back but then there is a problem fitting in Di Maria without giving him a large amount of defensive duties. Top scouting!
