Let me speak on behalf of the nation in saying we will miss your valued support. Good luck in your future endeavours
So do you support this decision?
Enjoy league one next year
What's that got to do with this post?
Thanks for your input then
You obviously don't try very hard to support England if you're deciding not to because Rooney has been made captain.
I don't see why it's a shock or disgrace that Rooney has been made captain seeing as he's the most experience and most capped player in the squad - which is generally how international teams award the captaincy.
But surely a captain shoUld be someone that can lead by example motivate the rest of the team and be a role model ? Rooney has none of those qualities
Who in the squad can? When the answer is none you'll realise how pathetic it is that you are complaining and refusing to support your country because the most experienced player in the squad got the captaincy.
Did you do the same when Gerrard was named captain? Because there's no difference between when he got it and Rooney got it, apart from that one plays for Man United and the other plays for Liverpool. Probably explains the bitterness, though.
Rooney has for a decade being useless in an England shirt. He shoulve been dropped long ago, around the time he was gurning into a tv camera to berate English fans for booing his feeble efforts on the pitch. Total disgrace.
The only reason he is in the team/captain is because the FA are only interested in fleecing schoolboys and their parents by selling shirts/tickets etc based on a FAKE 'legend'.
I for one will be supporting the Germans until the ENGLISH FA is run by people who care about FOOTBALL, and not about profits and boosting the earnings of agents and ego maniac low-lives like Wayne-slap head-cheating - rooney, ok?
Yeah why don't we play all these awesome players we have that Rooney is playing in front off....
Like ahh.... Lambert.....and ahh.........umm.... Carroll...
Yeah why do we hold all these world class players back and play Rooney instead
You should have saved everyone the effort of reading your rubbish and just said I am not supporting England anymore because a United player is captain. <ok?
Tyke, what a pile of crap.
England fans crack me up. They have the cheek to call United fans glory hunters but then refuse to support their country because they continually underachieve and pick players they don't like. The hypocrisy is astounding.
I have always wondered about the England fans who say what's the point we are not going to win it.
That fits the definition of glory hunting perfectly, you refuse to support your country unless they have a chance of winning something...
What makes it even stranger is you can't really just become a German supporter or a Brazilian or something, you can cheer them on but it isn't the same at all.
How is this anything to do with a Man U player being captain?? When have I mentioned it being about that? He has consistently under performed for England, he has no morals, slagged off fans live on telly, made a fuss till he got paid a insane amount of money!!!
I could not give a carp which team the captain played for I'm bothered about the captain being Rooney.
Why do you care what he does with his club?
As long as he is playing well for them.
He complained about booing fans, it was a bad idea but I don't think you should boo your own players either personally.
The whole England team has underperformed for years, he was one of our best players in the last WC.
I don't see how he doesn't have morals exactly. I haven't seen him eating any children or anything like that...
Just admit your bitter and save us all a lot of effort....
Nice childish replies there guys Glory hunting? no, the opposite. Dropping players, no matter how good they may or may not be if they fail to live up to the job. Can you imagine Geoff Hurst or Alan Ball putting in no effort in a game and then still demanding adulation from fans?
I want England to represent the country and its values, not win at all costs. With this FA though, we get neither!
As for defending a player just because he played for ( held to ransom ) your club , that makes your opinion pretty worthless, the worst kind of plastic in football. AND SAF is gone, get over it. And Palestine! dont get me started on that one!
What am or would I be bitter about ? He was caught with a lady of the night! Shows he has some good morals there. Do you honestly think he would be a good captain and ambassador for England?

I wasnt talking about you.
Like I said, you can say very much the same about Gerrard. I don't like Gerrard, but I'm not going to stop supporting England because he's been crap for us and is a caaant with no morals like Rooney. I don't like Rooney either. But it's pathetic to stop supporting your country because of dislike for a player in the England team.
Both people on here seem to only want to support some idealised England team that is completely removed from reality.
The fact you've given a clichéd definition of a captain, that in reality is a bit of an anomaly in modern football, kind of supports that.
So you want to have a whine about my username as well?
Sound like a whiny little kid.
^For Tyke
Battywack
Who cares if he had an affair or not, plenty of other footballers have and some of them have captained England. Rooney's hardly the worst of them and is probably better than some of them.
Maybe its because I am not into the gossip magazine culture and I am a man but I have never really understood this rubbish about affairs...
Grown men can't starting having affairs and using footballers as an excuse. Little kids aren't married anyway, so do not have wives or husbands to cheat on anyway....
If by the time they have grown up they think their favourite footballer when they were a child makes it okay for them to have an affair then his extra marital affairs would probably be the least of our worries, you have a bit of a psycho on your hands!

Weird reply there..not sure what you meant to say?
For one, I dont 'care' who sleeps with who, the reason I dont like this appointment is because it was made by the FA for money making/political reasons, and not footballing ones.
You then mention 'silly little child' again.. is that all you have? Someone disagrees so you compare them with children. Get some new material.
I have better things to concern myself with, but I can manage more than one! I have just been on a site donating money to starving children ( I can send you the link if you want ), but does that mean I cant comment on here as well? You seem to manage it alright.

Rooney has given money to charity previous, does that not mean he can spend money on himself as well?
Or do you give all your money to charity and survive on handouts and leftovers?
