ita honestly worse than what we have now. Porto and Ajax would probably be seeded above City or something like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they wouldn't. In fact the exact opposite would be true.
City would be a top seed this year as they won their league. Porto came third in theirs so would be ranked lower.
This year, in the system you seem to prefer, Porto are ranked higher than City.
Arsenal have had to graft over many years to be top seeds. City would be nowhere without the influx of cash that they have had. Stop moaning. City should have to graft just like every other team in pot one did.
How can an arsenal fan talk about grafting when you bought your way into the football league ffs
@ Manfrombluemonty
Basically you prefer this new system bcos it'll favor your club, yet you're surprised that Arsenal fans would prefer status quo as it favors their club!!!!
No exactly rocket science is it
There's an argument for both systems, but like a lot of people have mentioned, we didnt make the rules, we just follow them

The go-to argument used by City fans. Let's talk about something that happened pretty much a century ago.

Wouldn't faour my club at all.
There is indeed an argument for both sides and as i said I feel rewarding the league champions in the champions league seems like a smart move. On top of that i had a quick look at how it would have affected this years draw and showed that we may actually see a nice change in the same old teams being tope seeds.
If anything i have been one of the few posters here who has formed an opinion based not on what is best for my club, but rather what seems best for the competition.

That means it didn't happen then? The difference is that TV rights to the CL mean without a huge injection of money you cannot get to the big money of the CL, so the rich get richer and the poor have less and less chance.FFP is about stopping others competing, nothing else, CL seeding is about ensuring the same teams go through most years, nothing else. At least this shakes the cartel a little.

Ofcourse not, but its not really relevant to the Champs lge is it?
Considering its the same people that decided to include Top 4 teams into Champs lge as well as introduce FFP and now they are thinking about introducing this new system!!
Yet you think this is to shake things up a bit?!?!?
It's more than likely designed to generate even more money
The more I think about this the more I see it being just as bad as what we have now. You could get to 10 CL finals in a row and still be seeded below a team that has never gotten out of a group for instance.
There's also a bit of hypocrisy from those backing this idea. It would mean that the geographical location of a team determines where they are seeded rather than taking into account the performance of said team. Almost the same criticisms levelled against the current system would reoccur perhaps in reverse or with a little deviation. If UEFA go with this we will just be going round in circles.
I understand why City fans would want this, but what about teams that have had to grind and suffer for years to become a top seed?
Why should it be based on histiric data? I'm surptised Gooners aren't calling for the PL to be re-structered so they don't have to play Stoke away on a Tuesday night because they finished 4th.
We probably wouldn't want it to be fair as our coefficient is looking healthy. United would probably prefer it more than us due to missing out entirely this year.

If it does generate more money the extra should be distributed in the lower leagues of the countries who get to the last 4. Of course it won't be, noses too deep in the trough. That includes Arsenal, and City.
I bet there's an unhealthy amount of people on here who would be quite happy with an 18 club, European Super League with no relegation.
These people generally never actually go to games and have an homo-erotic attraction to which ever "Superstar" the media happens to favour at that time.
The only fair way would be to put all of the balls in one bowl and pick them out, just like they do for the knockout ties.
Sport relies on competition, being better next year etc, the people who want a no relegation European Super League have no interest in sport and may as well support Celtic for all I care. Sport means losing and winning. If you don't win your league you don't deserve to be in Pot 1. If Chelsea beat us to the league, they will have earned their Pot 1 seeding and we won't. Whinging about it is what I expect from the infantile parts of the Arsenal board, perhaps they should try to win the league instead of embarrassingly celebrating 4th. What a pity the Besiktas penalty wasn't given, would have made all this a non-issue.
The only whining that I have seen regarding the issue of Arsenal being in pot 1 has been from City fans. You should just count yourselves lucky that you were taken over by a very wealthy man, and put in the position where you can play Champions League football.
Well the potential changes to the seeding system would only really affect us or you if it had happened this season afl, so it's hardly a surprise
Said on a different thread, I'd rather they reduce the coefficient to three years or just do a everyone out of the hat draw. Anything that gives us someone else but Bayern for a change!
AFL
I suppose we should. Given the financial doping that has been given by membership of the cartel, it is the only way someone else could get a look in. We are very lucky, as lucky as all the other clubs that have had laughably huge sums out of membership of the club. Supporters of teams like Newcastle, West Brom etc. that will never get a look in have been hard done by indeed, no wonder existing beneficiaries want the system to ensure they get out of the group stages every year.
I wonder where arsenal would be if a rich owner hadn't used his money not the clubs to buy Viera and Berkamp?
To the arsenal fans on here, do you think the seeding system is due an overhaul just because of city.
Or could it be as simple as it's flawed and they can see that and it's nothing to do with us.
Please if you can answer objectively and leave you're hatred of us out of it.
If you can
Inconvenient facts series No 2 Loz, it isn't fair, they are mainly too young/too blinkered to be aware of that series.
Funny, City fans mostly accept we have been lucky beneficiaries of a system that allowed such things, g ooners mainly can't do the same.
No city fan can deny we won big with the take over
I am yet to meet one.
The bitterness from some is music to my ears.
If Liverpool had won the league last year you would have them in pot 1 ahead of City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Juve, Barcelona, Madrid etc despite not being in the CL the 5 years before that?
There is no perfect way to do this me thinks.
