I think most people on here would pick a 433/4231/442 from the players we have. Don't think many would play a back 3.
Its hard to see what merits LVG sees in the 352. No-one seems comfortable playing it.
He has a huge ego and that's that. He will continuously persist with this until the board sack him.
He either brings the personnel to play this, which will require:
3 strong defenders who are great with the ball and play from the back
2 genuine wing backs
3 central midfielders of the quality that Juventus have.
That will not happen.
I want him to succeed, but for me, we've gone from square peg in a round hole with our footballers to playing everyone in a tactical formation they're not comfortable with.

I was talking about this the other day. Were the Dutch really great? They had one man by the name of arjen Robben..... the best winger in the world in my opinion who carried them offensively for most games. We do not have a player even close to him to make the system work.

We shall wait and see. I have not seen a winger close to Robben when it comes to beating men after men in the wings. Di Maria is a class player, close to Robben? I don't know, but age is on his side.
What a load of crap, the 352 the Dutch played is nothing like the way we play. Holland played with 3 cba when on the ball and tried to get the ball forward quickly.
If you watch us with the ball, the wing backs push forward and the two centre backs pull into a fullback position, which today left only jones in the middle.
I'm theory it means we should have lots of the ball in midfield, unfortunately out midfield treat the ball like a sack of Ebola.
Also , Hollands formation means one striker and Robben in behind, we are playing two out and out strikers with Mata in behind. The build up has to be far more calculated but we simply don't have the pace to press or energy the ball.

Just to make a point. The man has a very big ego which could spell disaster for us. A very good manager, but got that stubbornness like Fergie in him.
Well he has to see it now with Rojo & Blind.
Give it a few more games, then he'll know, what he has to do.
If we are losing badly, and see his formation getting ripped to shreds, I'm sure he would change things.
But agree, 433 or 4231 is the way to go with our current crop...

I went to the game today, got home at 7:30 mate. To be honest, some of the away fans there unlike last season are already pis s ed at what they are seeing. Mata, Rooney, Valencia and RVP should give their wages up this week. It was comical out there today. I will never boo the team on the stands, however it has to be said somewhere that we are farking dire.
I think that is the end of 352. LVG had to use it today, firstly, He did not had enough time to practice 433 with Di maria in it. secondly, We did not have any CM to partner Fletcher(except Anderson) also our best FBs are out injured.
Hopefully, LVG used 352 today because of lack of preparations and injuries. he now gets a good two week to get players fit and prepare them to play 433. Id be shocked and disappointing if he we play 343 with DI Maria at CM in our next match.

One winger does not suddenly make 4-3-3 feasible. It require 2 at least and a back up to them. We look at teams that have reams of wide forwards and somehow think we can copy it with the options being rooney, valencia, mata and Januzaj. Not going to work.

Chelsea have 3 defenders made for 3-5-2 in Ivanovic, Terry and Cahill. It just won't work in the PL.
It works in Italy and Holland because the style of football is slow.
In England, one long ball and a flick on to a pacy winger kills a 3 man defence.

I personally have doubts about 352 but we are missing as many as 6 players who are more tailor made for the system that what we've had so far.
Wait and see before dismissing it.
There is a reason why do many great coaches in the PL era.

Jose
Wenger
Ancelotti
Benitez
Pellegrini
Graham
Mancini
List goes on, have never really tried to use 3 at the back.
Barca have 70% possession in games and they don't use it.
Real have Verane, Pepe and Ramos and they don't use it.
What does that tell you?
We do need to give some compound V to Rooney and RvP though. They're so lethargic.

Well he said when he discussed the formation that it might bit work and that he might have to change it. He has also spent 60m on a wide player, who have gave as an example if the kind of player he needs to go 433. What makes you so sure he'll stick with 352?
