Scoring some good goals doesn't mean you're not a poacher if you don't contribute enough to the build up play

We have differing views on the term "poacher" then

Poachers are strikers who add nothing to the team bar goals

And falcao adds nothing?

Danny Welbeck is definitely right up there. He literally has everything, has fantastic work-rate, he is quick, strong and very good in the air. He's great a holding up the ball and bringing others into play

Falcao is not just a poacher, have you seen some of his goals?

this. I think he is a very good footballer, so he could really have played for any club.

Falcao adds goals, that's it. Poacher. Sometimes with him on the pitch it's like playing with 10 men

I agree Welbeck has to be in there, probably replace Aguero with Welbeck. Welbeck starts more matches.

Welbeck is waaay better than that poacher Falcao, has Falcao ever won the Premier League? Didn't think so.

He'll struggle to get games in front of yaya Sanogo

Liverpool always seem to have a player that is one of the best....

Actual talent levels of the player or the ones he is being put above doesn't seem to matter. At least one Liverpool player must be rated as one of the best....

you bitter sad sack.

Sturridges record since he joined us is phenomenal. It's right up there with any striker in Europe, so why shouldn't he be compared to them?

If United had signed him, you'd be saying exactly the same, and don't deny it. You lot were saying Januzzi was world class after one game

posted on 3/9/14

Can't remember saying Adnan was world class after 1 game... maybe you have a link or something...

Feel free to compare him to whoever you like, compare him to Messi if you really want to. He just isn't up there with them, whether he is a United player or a Liverpool one.

Not comparing him to Messi, that would be silly. You seem to like your stats, so show me stats that refute the fact that Sturridges goal scoring rates aren't up with the best in Europe since he's been at Liverpool.

I don't need a link for Januzzi, you were all creaming yourselves as soon as he touched the ball for the first time. He'll, many were saying he was better than Sterling

I might be biased but I can't think of many that have been playing better than him over the last 18 months

...........................................................

Not really, comparing them and saying Sturridge is the superior player would be silly.... comparing them though is fine.

Did I say he hadn't scored a lot of goals?!

Hernandez was up there with the best minutes per goal ratios a season or two back, he wasn't anywhere near top 5 in Europe!

You said you lot said he was world class, not will be world class but was world class.... surely you can provide links to quite a few fans on JA606 saying just as much?

Better than Sterling I would say no, Sterling hadn't exactly done much at that time though. Was starting to look a good player but only really came to life as the season went on.

I'd be curious to see your top 10 strikers at the moment

There seems to be a general feeling on this thread that Sturridge should be considered.

posted on 3/9/14

Sturridge is up there, certainly on the cusp of the top 10 in Europe. If he bags over 20 goals in the prem again this season and scores a few in the champions league then he will certainly crack the top 10 and be pushing on toward the top 5.
