What is the point in giving the captaincy to somebody who probably won't be playing come the Euros?

Truth is there are few viable candidates, for me only Rooney and Cahill.

Busby my England squad would be a bit different to the current one.

For a start I'd cast my net much wider and be happy to pick the less fashionable players so my pick for captain could well be one of those players.

Hard to get fired up knowing Hodge is still in charge. We have to make do with him at the helm for another 2 bloody years.

Why wasn't more made about the failure in Brazil? It's like it slipped out of people's consciousness. Hodgson should have got murdered for that display.

People are so apathetic towards the England side that the FA were under no pressure to do so.

A similar performance will come and go in the Euro's, he will be sacked and then we go again.

I bet the FA love it that way. They don't need to push the boat out to really solve the problems....basically like they haven't done for the last 50 years then.

You could never see someone like Colback get into the England squad 5 or 10 years ago. I think it's a sign there are now too many foreign players, and the amount has become a hindrance whereas it may have been a help because it was helping to improving players competing with them.

There are plenty of good English players in the Premiership to pick from. The problem is that there seems to be a major bias towards English players who play for the top 7 PL clubs.

There are plenty of good English players in the rest of the PL teams but they so rarely get picked because they're not fashionable or marketable enough.

Swansea alone have a couple of good players that could be getting picked for England like Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge and possibly even Leon Britton.

Stoke's Ryan Shawcross is a good defender who gets overlooked. He's surely every bit as good as Jagielka who consistently gets into the starting 11.

Plenty of other good players if you look around.

Saying that I think we could have a decent team if choose the right players in the right system.

I agree, but for whatever reason we've stopped picking players to fit a system.

Now we just see the most popular/fashionable/most marketable players from the top clubs picked and throw them together in the hope that it works.

That just seems a strategy destined to fail in my opinion.
