United we win
United now generate £100m a year alone via their (29) commercial partners. This is without even considering all their other revenue streams.
When FFP really starts to show it's teeth I believe United will comfortably outspend the oilies.

Giving youth opperunity has to be correlated with remaining competitive.
My point was that any club (Arsenal included) that found themselves in United’s position would ensure they made every effort to get back into the CL.
===========
I would say to you that Arsenal budgeted for not qualifying for the CL in the last few seasons.
The plan was for the stadium was conservative.

A true article, but the younger generation don't care that we are a successful self sufficient business model as well as a football club competing at the highest level.
All they want to do is moan that we haven't bought the expensive world class player in every position we needed to fill. Indeed they say we have had a terrible transfer window even though we signed 5 players including the world class Sanchez. What do these fans expect? Well a CB and DM is what we all would have liked extra but 7 new players in one window is a bit much.

In the last 10 years, Chelsea have spent £1.04 billion on transfers alone. From this position of privilege, they have managed to draw a net profit of £800k over the summer, with possibly a similar amount next year.

That’s right. It is believed non CL qualification would hit the club to the tune of £40/£50m. However there is estimated to be around £200m (up from £130m two years ago and £154m last returns) in the cash reserves, which would comfortably cover any non CL losses.
For the last number of years the club has had the largest amount of "cash" available in it's reserves than any other club in Europe.
The stadium repayments are fixed (from memory £24m a year).
Makes it more frustrating that the club did not bring in a CB/CDM as we (again) have not fully utilised the resource available.

Chelsea managed to get their house in order prior/during the first (Uefa) monitoring period.
However recent transfer windows only further prove that FFP is working in light of their net spend (same as City) were both outside the top 20 clubs in Europe.

"Arsenal made bids for at least three central defenders during the final week of the transfer window.
Kostas Manolas decided to join Roma ahead of the Gunners, while Wenger was put off his Greece international team-mate Sokratis Papastathopoulos by Borussia Dortmund’s £16 million asking price.
Arsenal made an inquiry over Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic on the final day of the transfer window, but the Serb decided to stay at the Etihad Stadium even though he is unlikely to play much first-team football."

I fully understand this. I even failed to include wages and administrative fees that would probably double the figure of £1.04 billion. Britain may be decent now, but she built her wealth on opium and slaves.
As I said, " ....from this position of advantage..."
It's Up For Grabs Now
Yes I know. However as the club knew long before the WC that TV5 was leaving it would have been prevalent to get a replacement in prior or after the WC, and not leave negotiations until the final week of the window.
We now are in a position with only two recognised CB’s, and Chambers (as good a prospect as he is, he has played 25 senior games in his career) covering CB and RB.

Indeed but it was not that long ago that Senderos and Djourou were starting matches.
P.S Looks like Kompany is crocked.

When the two Swiss lads were playing for us they were however supported by others and were not first choice. We also had considerably less resource available to strengthen at that time.

You're right.
But getting a good bench warmer is hard these days.
The legend that is Senderos, got us to the CL final on the back of an amazing set of defensive displays. None shall besmirch his good name.
With 50+ games this season, and with Kos and BFG’s injury records, (Kos is again injured at the moment) suspect that any addition would get ample game time.

Arsenal do not sell out.
---------------------
Arsenal may not have sold out in the way you describe, but you have sold out your fans with the exorbitant ticket prices; the most expensive in Europe. You've held to ransom the very heart and soul of your football club; its fans.
You are far from being the envy of every true football fan; that would be a club like Bayern Munich who know the true value of their fans.
In comparison to the clubs you mention in your OP, "the nouveau riche" as you like to call them, their cheapest season tickets prices are as follows.
City £299, Utd £532, Chelsea £595
Arsenal - £985
Most expensive;
City £780, Utd £950, Chelsea £1250
Arsenal - £1995
Your cheapest ticket is more expensive than City and Utd's most expensive tickets. That is deplorable.
Those clubs may have sold out in your opinion but what they haven't done is sold out on their fans as your club has. Look at what those clubs have won in the last decade - European Cups in the case of Utd and Chelsea, League titles for all three; their fans have enjoyed the ride; week after week the fans gets to see some of the best players in the world, and their fans pay less than yours.
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Arsenal spend £42m on Özil and £35m on Sanchez?!
Let's not think Arsenal are an innocent party in all this because it's far from the truth.
-----------------------
All the money for those purchases was self generated and can be sustained this is the point.
________________
Just like United. They are just better at generating income than Arsenal.
Let us be very clear the road may be long and the progress slow but Arsenal do not sell out.
-------
We are the only elite European club to my knowledge that operates more like a corporation than a football club, didn't City subsidize their fans for their game against us because of our overpriced tickets? We even sold the naming rights to our stadium.
The day will come when Wenger will be able to field his first eleven - until then, know well that this club is the envy of every true football fan.
