In 2 years time, I expect us to sign another striker at the very least. RVP is coming to the end of his tenure at Utd and Rooney is getting older. Our policy has changed and if we need to, we will look into the market.
And I personally don't expect Welbeck to be smashing goals like you are suggesting. I think he may be as good as a Defoe/Bent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, you are happy with us buying proven world class players for extortionate fees and see this as a sustainable model as "the way forward"?

Bit harsh to say hes not a top 20/50 striker in the world.
He only 23 years old, at 23 what was RVP doing at arsenal? probably injured or just on the fringes of the 1st team. At 23 Henry wasnt the best finishers ever ect. Player mature at different ages.
As an arsenal fan i hope he does a Sturridge.

You are acting as if we have sold Ronaldo to Arsenal or someone like that.. It's a bit confusing. He's a decent player and all but not near as good as you make out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would be much more píssed off if we had sold Ronaldo to Arsenal mate. I am not making him out o be be a world beater by any stretch - as it happens we don't know how good he could be. What you fail to realise, my friend, is that players develop. You seem very stuck in looking at things right now, which is why you are failing to grasp what I'm saying. Yes, right now Falcao is better than Welbeck, how about in 3 years when he is the wrong side of 30? Who will be better then? The answer is that we don't know, but there is a good chance that by then Falcao, RvP and Rooney will have regressed considerably and Welbeck will have improved.
Robben, whether or not people agree with that model is a different debate. But I don't know how you can't describe it as a sustainable model. We aren't Leeds.
Star players make the club more money. And invariably make the team better. Which in turn makes more money. You only have to look at Real Madrid. Their model is very sustainable. And Woodward being a marketing whizz means if we are looking to that model then we'll look to profit from it.

Yes, we can afford it, so we will do it. Move into the modern world! This is how it is done now. Chelsea, City, Barca, Bayern, PSG and Real all operate like this and we are no special exception. This is what we HAVE to do to compete.

He's United through and though.
If he plays well enough for Arsenal, he may become their captain. Then, we can sign him back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Honestly wouldn't surprise me if he re-signs for Utd in a couple of years if he does well at Arsenal.
He has Utd dna
I cant pretend to have rated Welbeck's finishing while at Utd, but likewise Adebayor at Monaco was a shocking finisher, even Henry was profligate in front of goal.
So im hoping Arsene can work his magic on Welbeck.
Arsene might be poor tactically, stubborn & tight but 1 thing you cant deny is he improves players

I would suggest that the 35 goals Rooney scored playing alongside Welbeck suggests that the talent is there.. He is wasted on the wing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is a professional footballer, nobody in their right mind would say hes useless.
But hes not very good thats all
Lets be honest, there is no danger of any top team taking him off Utd hands.

Yes we do, or we will have to have more seasons like last season. We are moving into this age and the club are now exercising their power. This is not the last of our spending sprees.
You keep saying the same things.. You think our squad will be identical in 3 years time? there is a very good chance we could have a completely new strike force by then
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It may be what we do, it may not. It may just be temporary to elevate us back to where we should be, before the previous model continues. Whether I like the model (if it is continued) is what I do know.

Let's be very clear.
The dream would have been for Welbeck, Rooney, Mata, Kagawa and Janujaz too have clicked.
None more so than for the home grown lad.
You failed and the boy has gone.
It is weak.
Both, Robben.
Signing world class players for a club like United is a sustainable model whatever way you look at it.
Doesn't mean we should do it, however.
But I don't really understand the point on Welbeck possibly being good at Arsenal in three years time. What relevance is that to United?
Most people acknowledge he isn't good enough to start regularly as a striker for us. So the likelihood is he wouldn't become that player without games anyway.
So the fear of him becoming good isn't an issue as it wouldn't happen here and we shouldn't just keep him to stop him becoming a good player at Arsenal.
Maybe Rooney will still be better in three years time anyway? Maybe Falcao will still be better at 31 as well, if we sign him. Maybe Wilson will become amazing and get into the team. We can't say.
Sadly we have to live in the here and now as we've fallen so far behind and need quick fixes to get back up to the top. That stems from mismangement from and unfortunately for Welbeck he's been a casualty of that.
It doesn't mean we have to be like that forever. We just need to get a foothold at the top of English football. An buying class players and moving on average ones is the way to do it.
He certainly doesn't lack natural ability, when playing on instinct he is at his best.
