A club can spend money on things that aren't just transfer fee's.
___
Like that new stadium then?
How is the construction going?
What is it, 6 or so years he's been pretending he is going to build one
He's mugged you all off. It doesn't exist.
Levy is a superb business man, do you want us to be like The 3 Amigos at West Ham or even worse end up like Leeds.
The fact is we have finite resources and are not in the top tier of clubs at this point!
Players people how touted to solve the striker crisis...
Lukaku - 28m and Chelsea would never sell to us.
Remy - Silly wages and wants Champions League.
Welbeck - Fancy making him one of our top earners after he's barely scored for United?
Bony - Signed for Swansea for 8m and had a good season. Now people want to spend 25m. Haven't heard anyone mentioning Benteke for the same amount of money... he is so last year.
These targets people have been talking about being 'realistic'.
Our net spend over the previous three or so seasons is now lower than Stoke, possibly even QPR.
The notion that Levy has invested heavily is garbage. He spent the Bale windfall but completely botched it up with the appointment of Baldini.
So why is he still charging fans close to a grand for a season ticket then?
Where is this money going? The phantom stadium you all think is being built

Biggest dupe ever then as near enough the whole area is cleared and going to trouble of all evictions just to get one over the fans
What a idiot

No interest in it. Despite paying money out to move business, requesting approval to build from the government and going through public enquiries

Loved that free training centre we got btw.
Also love the fact that building new facilities is as easy as it is in the Sims.
It has gone a bit quiet on here now

I get the frustrations but I honestly think they are mis guided.
It is harry that should bear the brunt of it, that team you mentioned modric, bale, king, vdv, etc. we should of won something instead capuliated in cups chelsea, pompey and united though we should of won that one we were the better team on the day. We should of also had a title tilt.
The stadium will be brilliant just ask people about the training centre which is one of the best in europe and at present the best in england. I expect the same for the stadium.
In fairness to us our situation is far different to arsenals who had regeneration plans and help from the government. We had no assistance until recent with an unprecedented long wait whilst the regeneration plans are also later on in the process for arsenal.
Relax all will come good and with broomfield back in charge we will start to see a better standard of transfer.

There appears to be a divide forming
Those happy with Levy and those that are a bit disgruntled. Almost like a couple of brigades...
I'll nail my flag to the wall:
Levy has done some wonderful things for Tottenham. He's made some poor decisions too.
There. Flag nailed
Ps - 4th, 5th, 6th and an acceptance of 7th and a plucky cup run is decline
We peaked when Capello resigned from England, from that moment it has been a steady decline.
If the England job had not become available that season, we would have qualified for the CL and things since then might have been oh so different.
Also, it is no surprise we have been worse defensively since Ledley retired.

I agree with you on the Levy front. He has done some excellent things for the club but has made mistakes. I just think that recently he has become a very easy target for people to slag off, when his hands are tied by trying to build a stadium and get the club to compete on lower wage structures.
I'll be very surprised if we finish as low as 7th.
Broomfield, the same guy who said Suarez was cack?
Why so much negativity after one bad result, fair enough we played ordinarily and made Liverpool look like top four contenders, but as is usual against the dippers the referee contributed massively to the end result.
Had Allen got a second yellow instead of a penalty for his dive, we may have gone on to win and the mood on here would be all positive and full of the joys of spring.
I would be more worried if we fail to beat Sunderland and The Baggies.
For those interested in the new Stadium progress, there is an interesting thread with some pictures of ground works etc here...

Hope your right mate
people on here dont understand what its like for fans who have followed the club in the glory days of the early 80s, i just want a little of that back, not a lot just a little for all the thousands i have spent following them, just to see my team walk up the steps of the new wembley to collect a cup
What about those of us who started supporting the club in the Fifties & the amazing Sixties!
I can't believe any right minded Spurs fan would consider Harry Redknapp to be our most successful manager. What a complete lack of respect to our managers who have actually won things (and that includes Ramos).
Harry was a nearly man who should have done better in his role on some occasions. League Cup final should have won, 2 fa cup semis, one we should have won.
The reason why we had Saha and Nelson is we did not have a committed manager long before Capello resigned. We also had a man who faced possible prison so there is no way money could be spent in support of him.
Evening all. Some points:
1) Move on from Harry. We could debate it forever but that was a long time ago now
2) We had more stars in the past, some incredible players, but our squad is better now. Let's see how poch does with them over the full season before we judge too much. I don't think Everton are better yet.
3) I'd love the club to come out and clarify what baldini does to earn his huge salary.
4) My big worry is our creativity. The onus is on Eriksen and lamela, and a lesser extent Chadli. That could be brilliant, but if one or more are injured, I can't see us being inventive enough to open teams up easily. We could do with some spark. And slightly related, siggy should not have been allowed to leave!
Look it's not rocket science. Our midfield was once Lennon, Parker, modric, bale and vdv. Only Lennon remains. He's gone massively downhill and we replaced the other 3 worldys with the likes of chadli and Townsend.
Most games are won & lost in midfield especially against the top sides.
It's little wonder we have gone from CL to scratting around for 6th
Well done "Darth Levy", and all the Spurs fans who cheered him on when he sacked our most successful manager and gutted all the best players from our team
------
this mug still babbling on about redknapp
let it go buddy, let it go
spurs are in fine shape, pretty much where we should be when financial muscle and size of club is compared with other clubs , if not slightly overachieving
