I don't think 3/4 of a bad season can eclipse 4 consecutive world champions, but if Vettel doesn't return to form, then there will be questions over his legacy.
Of the world champions since I started watching:
Consistently quick:
Senna
Schumacher MKI
Alonso
Hamilton
Had the best car, with some evidence that they struggled in equal (or worse) machinery
Prost (admittedly he was old when I saw him)
Hill
Mansell
Villeneuve
Button
Somewhere in the middle:
Raikonnen
Hakinnen
Vettel
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree about Prost and Hill m8.
Both performed well in other teams, Prost outperformed Senna at times and Hill not only won races for both Williams and Jordan he very very nearly won a race in an Arrows.
Sid
I think I'm deliberately harsh on Hill because I liked him so much when I was growing up that I assume that I will be too positive about him. Those results at Arrows and Jordan were incredible, but they happened in races of attrition. Hill is definitely underrated, could have been a two time world champion if it wasn't for a dodgy move by Schumacher, and Frentzen didn't do so well in replacing him, so perhaps he can go in the "in between" category.
As for Prost, I must admit, I'm not old enough to have seen Prost before he came back into F1 with Williams, by which point he had surely peaked. He could have had raw speed in the 80s, but I'll admit to being swayed by SENNA!
Fair enough m8.
I was a massive fan of Damon, agree that he should have been 2x WDC.
I think of Prost as being very like Alonso, he was not only very fast but also got the maximum out of his strategy.
The amusing thing about ThickVik (U12889) is he is too thick and juvenile to realise just how thick and juvenile he is.
He demonstrated how thick and juvenile he is by boasting that he excites himself at the thought of children dying from thirst by boasting that he would proudly waank at the thought.
He then made a fool of himself by trying to insult someone by calling him “an absolute tossser”. ThicKVik – Irony is wasted on you.
So Daniel Ricciardo could not catch Sebastian Vettel and then he did, and Lewis Hamilton was never close to Nico Rosberg which he was.
ThickVik (U12889) - How we laugh at you in my care home. Even the old lady in the incontinence nappy knows more about F1 in her little finger than you will ever understand in your life.
A few interesting comments.
The Brawn car was designed around the Honda engine and then they pulled out.
Brawn bolted on the Mercedes engine at the last minute. But it was the double diffuser that Ross exploited.
Instead of copying that concept the other teams wasted time claiming it was illegal. After the FIA confirmed that it was in the rules then the other teams caught up with them.
Prost was better than Senna. Prost outpointed everyone in 5 seasons and Senna outpointed in only 2. Senna won races from pole but Prost won races from anywhere. Prost was useless in the wet.
I liked Damon Hill. He came to F1 at a late age and drove a brilliant car. He was excellent at developing, testing and engineering the cars that he drove. A most underrated driver in my opinion.
Wow, not going to lie gents, and ladies if present (MartialArtist <laughing> just kidding mate.
to be honest, I thought that was a bit of a lacklustre race! Im satisfied Hamilton won, I didn't get to watch the race as I was busy watching other spectacles, not that they were important but yeah I just couldn't avoid them!
There's one thing I can't believe, not to blow my own trumpet, but how close I was to predicting the pole lap, I predicted a 1:24.52 with the pole lap time being 1:24.109. no more than 4 tenths off, quite happy with that myself!
There's conspiracy theories sprouting already about Mercedes apparently engineering the win by punishing Rosberg, by telling him to intentionally let Lewis win the race by missing the chicane twice. I was surprised that he missed it twice, and I do actually doubt that was down to "pressure" from Lewis putting fast laps in.
I was a little downhearted by Alonso's luck, I must admit, I didn't expect higher for Raikkonen, he seems to be the same at Ferrari this year as he was in 2009, just that "I can't be 4rsed" attitude. I think Alonso may go to be honest. He joined the Scuderia in 2010 under an unwritten promise that he'd be winning championships, which he isn't. I think the driver market will go into frenzy mode before Japan!
Hope everyone enjoyed the race, see you in the coming weeks!

I reckon nico felt bad for what he done to lewis in the last race so he missed it by purpose. Also don't think the team had anything to do with it
-----------------------------
I would agree team had nothing to for with it. However Nico doesn't feel bad about Spa. I am beginning to see him as petulant and a bad loser. What was all that carp working to everyone else in Italian just to exclude Lewis. That and his 'why isn't he letting me through' comment. Very childish attitude.

Nico should stop pretending, show everyone you are a nasty bastárd, just like the rest of the grid. I would respect you more that way.
By the way, if Nico wants to make it up to Hamilton, he has to not finish a race

Massa spoke to the fans in italian as well what's your point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Massa used to drive for Ferrari, he is allowed to
I've always been told it's very rude to speak a different language when there is someone else in clear airshot well that's what it's like in west wales.
Personally did not mind what Nico did, the reaction from the fans was most amusing.
Nico must have thought, let me suck up to them, the Tifosi went boooooooooooooooo
Welshy you should try my part of Wales. Horrific for it!
Guvnor, it wasn't the bit where he spoke to the crowd I was commenting on, it was the bit in the waiting area, pre-presentation. Rosberg deliberately spoke in Italian to both the Merc. engineer and Massa. Why would he do that? To exclude Hamilton. MUDD you speak Italian, any idea what Rosberg said to them both?
I did not pay that much attention but from what I gathered, he was describing some of the mistakes he made and complaining about the balance of the car.
He knew what he was doing definitely. Funny that Felipe went to Lewis and they were chatting away separately.
Felipe was probably giving Lewis advice about dodgy team mates
