I cannot think of a more overrated thing than 3D stuff. Don't bother.

Get yourself a better quality 2D screen for less money.

3D is a waste of time. Doesn't add anything and you have to sit there wearing stupid glasses.

I've had a 3D TV for like over 3 years now and apart from the first day I have never used it since.

Plasma's are on the way out AFAIK, you might get one cheap but they'll probably tell you to go LED.

Spend money and get an OLED screen if you can (I'm not sure if tvs have them). Some of the screens on the new Samsungs are stunning. Ignore the 3D stuff.

Wow, can't believe the hate I absolutely love my 3D TV, it definitely improves the experience.

As far as Plasma goes it's pretty much a dead technology now- Samsung announced they won't be making any more Plasmas in favour of LCD.

What's important is getting an LED backlit screen because it's possible to achieve far better contrast than those lit from the side. Some Samsung screens, including mine, have backlighting issues after a couple of years, they're good but perhaps lack the build quality you get with Sony (I would buy a Sony instead of my Samsung now).

I've used the 3D on my TV once, and never touched it again, nearly all TVs come with it now though.

Can't beat a double guarantee.

Do you work for Sony?

LED or OLED if you're a badass pimp.

Plasma if you want to look at yourself while watching tv.

LCD if on a budget.

3D if you're a huge Avatar fan.

I brought a 48" Panosonic 3D Smart TV for £600, down from £999.

It's brilliant, the 3D is surprisingly good and easy to watch. If you have Sky you get the free 3D channel which has lots of Films (watched Gravity on the weekend) and documentaries.

I would never get a Samsung, I find them slow, LG's lower/ mid specs are poor.

Panasonic or Sony for me.

Also, I wouldn't buy a Plasma, the dark screens are perfectly viewable on my Panasonic which is the only reason you wouldn't buy a LCD.

There is mine, if you go into Currys you'll haggle them down to £600 quite easily, get some extra glasses too.
