Stambouli and Fazio to start?

I love the fact that again the new guys are already far better than the current players without having to kick a single ball.

I'd bring them in gradually. Maybe give them some time on Saturday if we're looking comfortable or in any upcoming cup games.

Throwing them into the deep end could do them more harm than good in the long run.

Be patient. We've only lost one game in 5.

I think fazio is gonna get ripped apart in the premier league hope I am wrong.

I am amazed at how vertonghen gets off unpunished he was marginally worse than kaboul against liverpool. His positioning was shocking and I never once see him shouting across to kaboul it was always the other way round.

Feck them both off and start carter-vickers and veljkovic. These boys are too talented to wait behind this bunch of crappp.

There's no magic formula to what will work, clearly some players need more time to settle than others.

Dier done alright being chucked in, Lamela needed a season to adjust.. I'd say Fazio is an experienced pro, he's come from a Europa cup win and a solid performance against Real in the Super Cup.

Stambouli.. who knows.. but we've plenty of cover there so I'm sure he won't be chucked in before Poch thinks he's ready

Chicken, it's not as simple as "favouring the new guys" it s a pure fact of our defence being absolute shocking and we are still playing virtually the same defence as last season. That same defence that got ripped to shreads time and time again. Vertonghen, Kaboul and Rose and naughton were all part of that defence last season and are still playing together. I want a decent centre back to partner Vertonghen as he is still by far our best defender and I want Rose out of that left back position as Davies although not as dynamic seems much more steady and solid. I dont want to see naughton anywhere near right back so will have to keep Dier there until walker is fit. So far we have not seen an improvement in defence because we are playing the same defenders as last season. It has to stop and the likes of Fazio and Davies have to come in and start. The others have been tried and tested. It's not just the Liverpool game but clear evidence from last season that this defence is not good enough.

Yup I favour new guys..

Fazio: We complain players aren't Top 4 quality. when we sign a player that has won more than most of our squad put together we are suddenly accused of favouritism.

Stambouli: Won the league with Montpellier in France..it may not be much but whilst he was winning the league Bentaleb was playing academy football.

Call me bias but If we think they were worth buying then they must be worth a start. especially when they clearly have more experience and current form than the ones that are currently playing.

John O Shea has won more than your squad, that doesn't mean you'd want him in your first 11.

With all due respect neither of the aforementioned players were utility players or bit part. Both were integral to their sides success.

If you feel John O Shea was integral to United's success then fair enough. Vidic and Ferdinand must have been spectators ?!!

LLM, I enjoy reading what you have to say, and you are one of the better posters, and while I agree with you on how overated Vertonghen is, I do question your judgement of players some times, especially when you maintained that Livermore would go on to be a top top centre back ....

not only has Fazio never played for us, but he has never played in the prem, so I think its a bit soon for you to say that some unknown centre back from the academy should take his place...

"To be fair, fazio couldn't get in Sevillas side for league games."

He played 19 times in the league last season which seems to contradict the above statement

your statement assumed that he had no injuries or suspensions... now I don't know whether he did or didn't, but I am sure you have looked into it... ?

So he played half their games, and quite a few as sub. So my statement is pretty accurate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was wrong Wikipedia stats

He played 27 league games and 41 overall

It's also worth noting he's played more every season since injury problems a few years ago.

I wouldn't expect him to start every game anyway, it's not every day you need a 6' 5" CB.
