Fair enough. Just came to that conclusion but Van Gaal is pragmatic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As has been said many times, he will no doubt use varying tactics and formations - he won't stick rigidly to a 352.
SSN say its a diamond... I presume it will be:
---------------Blind---------------
-----Herrera-------Di Maria----
----------------Mata---------------
IMO a very strong midfield for a home game against a weaker opposition.
So four additional defenders are now available (Raphael, Shaw, Rojo and, if you like, Blind) who weren't available vs Burnley. Jones is not available now, whereas he was before and yet injuries have forced the change in formation??? It's just an excuse to save face. Hopefully that's the end of 3-5-2 and we can save our season.
Hello WKC...keep up the good work.
FALCAO on bench hope he don't play..so my vice captain gets ff points

On paper, that's the strongest midfield we've had in years. The defence looks so weak and inexperienced though.

Our midfield is amazing, the best since '08. But our defense looks the worst it has since '06.
Sky do some embarrassing pieces. So embarrassing that Falcao has chosen to sit a mile away from Shreeves.
Falcao has a lovely smile
Falcao looks a little jaundiced
Might just be the lighting
are we sure di Maria isn't playing LWB?

Jesus. The stupidity here is a sight to behold.
Shaw is not fit enough to start. The majority of the rest are left-footed players. You can't have aback three of:
Evans---Blackett---Rojo
A youngster, a debutant and an out of form/low on confidence Evans. Add in Blind, and the balance is all wring because of the predominant number of left footed players.
We also need a defender on the bench. I hope we go with a 4 at the back from now on too, but to say LvG has done it to 'save face' is clearly stupid. His hand has been forced today, no doubt about it.
Falcao wants to be at the club for many years.
So which one of our new signings to have a mare on debut? and to cue all rival fans calling him a flop

Never really understood this. No one bats an eyelid when we have 3 right footed players in a back 5, what's the difference? Genuinely asking here, as I've heard managers come out with similar things. Must be something in it that I'm not getting.
Good afternoon all. Falcao on the bench, right?
Not been this excited for a game for years!!
Finally our midfield looks frightening. Blind sitting and Herrera and Di Maria ahead
