Are you on PS3 or PS4? I'm still on PS3, I might download it but obviously PS4 version seems better.
Don't get why it's delayed in Europe.
I grabbed it on the PS3 and i will be honest vs FIFA 15 on the PC/next gen it looks terrible (in comparison). The menus are drab and boring, and looks like it could be something out of windows 95. Player models also look terrible and poor old Dante looks like he has the mumps.
However, looks and sound a side i felt PES played much better than FIFA. Dont get me wrong there are some issues but for the overall affect of playing a game of football PES was able to replicate this much better than FIFA.
However issues i had with the game itself started from the normal grip i have always had with the series - run speed + ball, playing as any team with quick players it seemed everyone and there dog could catch Bale/Robben/Ronaldo even with a 10m start! FIFA this year for me had sorted this issue.
On the plus side the variety of goals from poach a 4 yard finish to chipping the keeper from 45yards ala Beckham all looked and felt natural, one thing i found FIFA always has difficulties replicating.
Somethings take a long time to happen from shooting to tackling and could be quite frustrating......though i got the feeling this was more part of the game, so players cant do instantaneous shots and you need to make the space.

Nice goals
Sounds a realistic assessment. Don't think I'll buy another football game on PS3. I only played the demos, but FIFA 14 was just so unappealing to play, whereas PES 2014 could've been the basis of a good game but was nowhere near the finished article.
Both new installments on next-gen look good. Basically like much better versions of what they were aiming for on last-gen (PES looking for a new start, for some reason FIFA changed for the worse from 12-14).

Will be honest as long as its using the same engine on the PC as Xbone or PS4 i will get it on the PC. I am the same now, that apart from specific games i wont be getting anything else old gen, when i update over xmas the ps3 will be relegated to the bedroom.

Looks really nice. I'll wait for. Month after its release to decide.
Just downloaded it on PS3 to see how it's shaping up. Played four games. It's not bad, in parts it's really good, but it's just really bizarre so far.
Played three games on superstar difficulty and then one on regular and there was roughly zero difference in the way the CPU attacked, they were just as, if not more, dangerous on regular difficulty. Far more concerned with keeping the ball on superstar. On the higher setting, and this may have been to do with the teams and the way we set up, but not once did anyone get behind the defence.
Lowered the difficulty, finally scored my first goal in my fourth game. Couple of stepovers by Neymar, shifted the ball onto his left foot and found the bottom left from just outside the box. Felt great. His likeness in the replay was great too, not just face but the body shape.
I like the passing but there were some moments where it didn't find the intended receiver. If you want to super-cancel you have to do it early. I had about four or five half-chances where I powered up the shot about a quarter to halfway and it just rolled into the keeper's arms, shooting nothing like PS2 PES I've been playing recently, although I could probably get used to it.
Absolutely hate the set-pieces. That line can fook right off, it overcomplicates things. Actually curled one just over with Bale and one low one on target with Messi but it takes ages to line up and I'd much rather they kept the old system.
Still on the lower difficulty, scored two more nice goals. Kroos played a reverse pass to Modric with a backheel (on the replay he looked at Modric's run, nice touch) and the latter just about tucked it away, then I had Ronaldo toy with Boateng, a couple of dragbacks then bursting in from the left to curl in.
Got a better hang of how pace works, faster players like Bale and Ronaldo can really get going but you need space and you need to give it a second for them to start motoring.
Got no idea how to do any skills, which is partly my fault but there doesn't seem to be a controls page
Good point - I forgot to mention the worst power bar ever, exactly as you said I could have more or less the same power, one will be a pea roller the other will fly out if the stadium
The PS2 bar fills up quickly, generally you want to keep the power about a third or less, but if you're a long way out or are attempting a specific shot type you can go crazy. Plus the 'finesse' type shots are a bit more subtle in previous-gen.
Graphically, I think FIFA has better textures, kits and framerates in cutscenes, but I prefer the player models in PES, the animations and celebrations look far more natural and it looks fine when in play. The crowd notice things early and make some good noise, I think they're good.
There are some good features in the menus, which themselves are nice and responsive, but there are perhaps too many layers. I've been playing a lot of PES 6 recently and it's easy to quickly go into a sub menu, change a player's defensive workrate or tell them to make a certain run and see the effect in game.
Difficult to gauge. There are some things which are really good.
Subtle physical battles look and feel really good. FIFA can become a bit of an L2 or circle-fest at times where you're just constantly trying to shove, push, pull each other manically. Here, you can go side to side for a physical contest, subtly positioning yourself to win the ball, and stronger players are useful for that. Tackling is the best it's been for PES on PS3, nice and understated, and you can really put in a solid sliding tackle too.
Keeping the ball on the ground is good. If you've got a few players in close proximity you can knock it about by just tapping x a few times, but overdo it with an optimistic pass and you'll lose possession. A bit difficult to weight the final pass, there's rarely much room behind the defence.
I like that there doesn't seem to be a shooting exploit like there so often is in FIFA, but it comes with its own problems. In that last game I got in some good positions to unleash a shot, but there seemed to be a slight delay every time and I don't think it was me mistiming the shot either. I also got Inler in on goal at an angle and obviously wanted him to just leather it at goal but he sidefooted it.
It's weird, because moving players about and putting challenges in feels really sharp, but shooting feels like you don't quite have enough control.
Changed the shooting back to 'basic' rather than 'advanced' and it was much more responsive. Drew 2-2 as Barca with Madrid. That was the first time the CPU really went for it in attack on the higher difficulty, they took advantage of my high line to go in front, but I slid it to Messi to level. Benzema clinically got on a Bale cross to make it 2-1, before Rakitic came on a thumped it in off the post.
Really, really, really hate the set-pieces. By far the worst thing. The dotted line looks, and is, amateurish and it negates the mixture of player selection, your own ability and trial and error that made them so rewarding in previous games, even when you were constantly blazing free kicks over the bar.
Easy way to do skills
Push the right stick in any direction(this is the direction you are starting the trick)
Then straight after push the left stick in another direction (direction where you want to end the trick)
Can do first touch tricks too if you do it early enough before getting the ball
When pressuring another player with the ball you can click LS in for a bit of shoulder barging, can sometimes get away with it and take the ball, do it too much and is sometimes a free kick
Cheers, will give it a go. Found the controls in the pause menu if I want any specific tricks
Passing in last years PES was nearly perfect (I play on full manual) as was the shooting. It's all the little things in between that drove me insane. The scooby doo start of running, defenders with double your attackers speed, still running on rails at times....a lot more. Have the mistakes from previous years been cleaned up?
It may be too soon to tell because I thought the demo was perfect then the final game came out and screwed up my life.

Some bad news is JT can still catch Robben even with a 10m head start
There does seem to have been improvements in the AI and the ability to hold up the ball (check out my Ronaldo goal above). It certainly feels more solid than last years attempt, but i only have on the PS3 would like to see the PC or next gen version.
Simon I don't understand their reasoning for the handicap on breakaways. Are they trying to compensate for it being maybe too easy for really good players getting behind? It's really dumb. If you can get in behind then you deserve your goal. Or at least the chance...
