Cos that was what he was fab at. Sitting in front of the back he isn't very good at.
He is a passenger but only because BR picks him in that position.
My issue if I were a Liverpool fan would be why the hell did BR leave him out there the whole game?
It's not his fault he can't play 3 games a week is it?
It's BR who is to blame but no fans or press will touch on that. BR got it badly wrong today should have played 4-3-3 with Marko-Sterling-Lallana and balo up top.
Each to their own I guess but IMO this loss falls at the feet of Rodgers.
Mig
Back four
Hendo Lucas/Gerrard
Lallana Sterling Marko
balo
That team would have won today IMO.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gerrard called time himself sometime soon too. He knows he isn't playing well and has high standards that he set years ago and that he is nowhere near now. He can't go on forever you know as much as some people on here think he can.
Robbing, you are right. It is not Stevie's fault he keeps getting picked or doesn't get pulled. In my original article I stated how ruthless was Bob Paisley, our most successful manager. Time for Brendan to follow suit.

Despite conceding in the 2nd minute? Then again in the 7th? REALLY?
Yes, Bungee. Look at Carra, he stepped aside when he probably could have stayed on one more season. It must be hard for a player to pull himself so Brendan must do it. That doesn't mean Stevie should never play again but should be used sparingly. He is no longer "the main man". That is now Sterling's title.
Without Sturridge and Suarez' movement Gerrard is struggling to effect the game positively when he has the ball.
Playing Lucas and Gerrard together is also folly because of their lack pf mobility.
Gerrard can still be effective with options to pass to upfront. He specialises in finding forwards with good off the ball movement. Owen, Torres, Suarez and Sturridge would testify to that. Without out this movement he is marginalised in an progressive sense and with a lack of energy beside him (Lucas), plus being asked to play 3 games in a week at the age of 34, it's not that surprising he struggled.
Time waits for no man and you have to wonder if the end of last season and a poor world cup has effected him, but I believe with the right structure around him he still has an important role to play. In the second half of last season, I thought he was excellent.
Sadly Stevie should now only be used as an `impact` player coming on with 30mins to go & then he should be played behind the strikers . But it is obvious now that S a S a S . were the sole reason for our success last season .
Playing Gerrard every game and every minute makes no sense. When the likes of Lampard and Scholes reached their mid 30s they had games cherry picked for them.
West Ham and Villa played with midfields that were young, physical and quick and they took Gerrard out of the game.
We need to put Lucas back in DM and have two midfielders next to him.
