we've added rowe, saville and vlp to last seasons midfield,
probably over-egging the cake of our strongest section anyway
hence players like price and jacobs being left out
kenny's biggest mistake was / is not getting in a good forward
whether being so set on getting wood he ignored other options
holt , fortune or murray would have done great for us and by being more dangerous up front a lot of pressure would have been taken off the midfield and defence
Options are good, we need them.
I just can't believe that of all the players in our midfield to have never started (and play 180mins of football) it's Michael Jacobs. On his day he's unplayable.
Sako had a great game but how many times has he faded and given up after 70mins this season?
I don't want to bang on, because Kenny is great and I don't want to suggest otherwise.
But freezing Jacobs out the team will see him gone at Christmas and that's not good for Wolves. Especially when he can provide a bit of magic off the bench when we're drawing after 70mins.
dont rate jacobs quite as highly as you do pundit, i'm still shocked about price though !
Wot went wrong at the golden palace?
how wrong is wrong cowshed ?
we've lost 2 in 11, how about you ?
Not wumming!
Just wanted to know how the game went
ok, i'll believe you
played much better but the defence very nervous now after what Udders did to them - and caught out twice
a good point for you at b'burn
Yeah great point
Our ex jordan rhodes missed a penalty ..missed the target completely but we had our chances too
Really good game to watch today and Wolves the better team throughout. Just undone by two pieces of very poor defending. Sako exceptional today and Dicko and Edwards also very good.
Pundit seems to have a real bee in the bonnet about Jacobs not playing and substitutions in general. Perhaps I can help to clarify a bit.
1. Jacobs has publicly stated that he does not consider that he is playing well enough to get into the present squad.
2. Henry and Jacobs don't play in the same position so cannot be compared re. game time.
3. Edwards was pure class today and no-one on the bench was good enough to replace him.
4. Jacobs is young, keen, hungry and very talented and when he does get his place back it will need dynamite to dislodge him.
By the way Dicko was limping when he went off otherwise I don't think he would have been subbed.
In the second half Dicko, Sako and Edwards tormented the Wigan defence and were unlucky not to get the winner. We hit the bar and were not awarded what looked like a stonewall penalty from where I was sitting,
McDonald is being heavily marked as the opposition have sussed out that everything goes through him. Despite that he had a much better game than Wednesday.
Henry on for RVLP is a good sub in the same way that RVLP on for Henry is. They may play in the same position but they are very different and swapping them out always gives us a new threat.
Stearman looked unsure today and I really think that we need another quality CB to challenge him and Batth.
We also need a RB as it appears that Doherty now plays as a winger and spends far too much time up the field to do his job properly. He was at fault for their first goal.
Probably the most consistent player we have now is Golbourne. He is just like Foley used to be on the other side - Mr Reliable. Absolutely cannot fault him.
I do have a bee in my bonnet.
Jacobs actually said he hadn't deserved to play back on the 22nd September because he hadn't taken his chances.
I would argue that it's hard to take chances when Kenny doesn't bring him on until the last 10 minutes. If indeed he does at all. Maybe he shouldn't be judging himself so harshly until he's started a game.
Edwards hasn't always played well from 70-90 minutes every game this season.
When Edwards hasn't played he's played Saville there against Reading.
Why Saville there instead of Jacobs?
It's nice defending Kenny but on substitutions and freezing out Jacobs I think he's accountable.
Kenneth Jackett on WM:
1) Good performance. Quality and tempo good.
2) Giving away goals needlessly.
3) Working hard on the training ground to eradicate mistakes.
4) Wigan have spent a fortune with parachute money (despite having 3 top players missing)
5) Dicko has cramp.
6) Fringe players chomping at the bit.
7) Fifteen clubs could go up.
I have been calling for Jacobs to come in instead of Edwards, but Dave was excellent today and fully justified his selection. In fact not sure I have seen him play many better games.

I agree Edwards has been fantastic.
Jacobs is so versatile though. He is great on the wings or anywhere in the last 30 yards of the pitch, let's not limit him to attacking midfield. To not get a sniff is ludicrous.
As Wolfgang points out.... price was also dismissed and for what reason? He never got a chance,
I like Kenny, he's doing a great job but the sun doesn't shine out of his backside.
He's tinkered too much and unbelievably still not given one of our best players a game.
We are doing a Derby, as far as Jacobs is concerned and you'll be sorry when he's gone.
If Jacobs is to get a chance it might come on the right. Henry was poor in the week and no better when he came on today. Van La Parra looks promising but his final ball is usually poor, although he did make the first goal today.
Those that defend Kenny's lack of substitutions....
What of Sagbo coming on in the 92nd minute?
Was it to...
A) try and turn the game
B) Dicko had cramp and couldn't wait another minute
C) Waste time
Or
D) Meet the requirements of Yannick's loan deal which states that if fit he must feature in every game.
Agenda?
Obviously my opinion can't have the authority of someone at the game but the commentator on Player did say that Dicko was limping, he thought from a hamstring pull, and had to go off.
I need to get over it.
In Kenny we trust.
