Tough call,as he has served his time.
Is rape the one thing we do not forgive?
If you read the context of the Ched Evans case, there are things which don't add up.
Personally, and although I could be wrong but based on the evidence given, I felt he was wrongly convicted.
The judge must have felt so too else why release him 2 and a half years early?
he was found guilty by a jury ffs, so you think beasts should be playing footy as role models to kids in this country
So whats he supposed to do,sign on the social for the rest of his life.
There are convicted murderers ,politicians, celebrities all who have criminal convictions still plying their trade or profession,or are there some crimes different to others,he has to be rehabilitated.

footballers shouldnt be role models for kids. Something wrong with the parents if thats the case.
are sheffield that hard up that they need to re hire him again?
Jury can be horrendously wrong sometimes, you forget they go on who is better convincer
Not saying he is innocent before you jump on this

We have convicted terrorists running this country, and in all walks of life, people are given a second chance,so why is footie different?
He's done his time, he shouldn't be discriminated against to get his job back.
Just like if you did time inside you would hope people give you employment when you came out
Bleeding hell, the people running the country are far worse (tax evasion on a grand scale, war crimes etc etc) and people are bothered about this.
yeah ace
vik i agree... its difficult to have an opinion on this.. if you did put yourself in ched's shoes, you'd hope to have a 2nd chance in life..
but on the other hand, its a disgusting crime.

Mr C, that is exactly what I have been telling people all week. No child of mine will have a footballer as a role model. I didn't grow up viewing a certain footballer as my role model.

Tax evasion is worse than raping another human being? Maybe in your book mate, not in mine.

what about sending people to their deaths in illegal wars?
rapists and pedophiles are all the same to me, you do it to a 3 year old, 23 year old, or an 83 year old its still fackin rape
I have no time for these people
I would like to think Ace as a parent you would have some input in what name goes on the back of your childs shirt.
If anybody has served his or her time, then they deserve to be given a second chance back in society. Obviously some crimes are really horrendous, but we cannot pick and choose how they lead their lives once they have served their sentence and been released back into the big wide world. Are we now saying any person that has been imprisoned should never be allowed to work again. We may as well just keep all prisoners locked up for ever. That would make for a very civilised society.
How the fack is whether he is innocent irrelevant? what an utterly ludicrous thing to say.
So if he is innocent, which he seems to be, then he shouldn't be allowed back all because someone fabricated a story? That's someone else's life being ruined by a lie. How is that just?
He was let out early because the judge felt there wasn't sufficient evidence to justify the woman's claims. There were some reports which said the judge even apologised to Evans for the initial verdict. If that is the case then I'm not sure why he didn't get a pay off as compensation too (not that he needed it, but still).
Tens of thousands of people have been convicted, and will now drive your bus, cook your meal, fix your teeth and teach your kids.
Relatively speaking,football is trivial.
Should all criminals be left on the dole?
Regarding the case, I've read the case notes and as Samir said, something does just not add up. I can't be bothered to go into a large amount of detail, but the reason why Evans was convicted was because they were under the assumption that the "victim" was too drunk to consent to intercourse with him. However, she was sober enough to consent to intercourse with the fellow accused, who was later acquitted.
Usually, I would see rapist and be immediately disgusted, but this case isn't quite as clear cut. I will say, however, that I wouldn't want a convicted rapist playing for the team that I support. That would simply be because of his conviction.
