Man Utd v Chelsea (16:00 GMT)

This is Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal's first game against a really top team and, with Manchester City and Arsenal also on the horizon, he has got a few more coming up very quickly.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal

Louis van Gaal faces Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in three of his next four matches

United's defence is still a big worry, and the way they conceded their second goal against West Brom on Monday was frightening. They were all over the shop and I am just not convinced by Rafael at right-back who seems to be at fault for a lot of their goals.

If it was not for their goalkeeper David de Gea, United probably would not have come away from The Hawthorns with anything, which does not bode well for the visit of Chelsea.

I think United will go for it against the Blues - they have to - but as good as they are going forward, a team like Chelsea will just pick them off.

Lawro's prediction: 0-1

Mark and Karen's prediction: 1-4
.....................
Is there anyway to compain to the BBC, it helps if he saved anything in first place. De Gea has not saved any of the last 7 shots away from home he has faced
West brom barely went in our half, let alone trouble de gea with anything. Probably the easiest game he had. West brom had 0 corners, De gea made no saves and west brom barely had any touches in our box = if it weren't for De gea he could probably gone asleep and conceded 2 as about 85 minutes of that game was played in west broms half.

Then again Lawro doesn't watch our games, last season he said man utd are defensively all over the place and are conceding goals for fun when I think we had kept 3 or 4 clean sheets in a row

The worst part is Myhill was amazing but he never mentioned him, probably the best goalkeeping performance this season.

Merson to predicts a 2-1 Chelsea win which leads me to know check who the ref is. Uh oh its Phil Dowd, hopefully we finally get a decision for us, its amazing considering we batter teams in the box and many handballs and fouls not given as pens this season but against us only.

If QPR can get anywhere near the standard they played to last Sunday against Man United then they will have a good chance

Merson brillaint comment Man utd are now Liverpool

So even Jamie Redknapp predicts us to lose 1-2 to Chelsea. Chelsea are not as good as the side of 04-05 season or 05-06 season and we beat them in 05-06 season at OT.
40 game chelsea unbeaten run ended at OT.

Man utd always been the kings of the premierleague and we will do our best. I find it funny people don't realise that most of the teams we dropped points against we battered them so if Chelsea have the same problem one day then we should win.

Van Gaal on Mourinho

Football

Posted at 16:13

The Portuguese Chelsea boss was Van Gaal's assistant at Barcelona in the late 1990s.

Van Gaal: "I know Jose already has talent because I let him do [manage] Cup matches instead of my other coaches. He's a wonderful coach and to see him as a coach winning trophies in other countries is fantastic.

"That you can never imagine that he is a very modest and emotional human being - and I like that. But it's a surprise, no? He's one of the best coaches in the world."

Van Gaal on Sunday's opponents Chelsea:

"Chelsea are one of the top teams, as are Manchester City at the moment. Jose [Mourinho] has worked more than a year with his team and last year didn't win anything.

"You have to build up. They are playing like a team and we have to as well, but to play for 90 minutes. We played as a team against West Bromwich Albion but made individual errors."
Van Gaal on Carrick

Football

Posted at 16:09

Van Gaal says midielder Michael Carrick will not make his return in Sunday's match against Chelsea:

"Ander Herrera was already fit and Angel Di Maria said after the game that it wasn't so heavy and it's not. It was only the first day he didn't train, so it's no problem.

"I'm sorry to say no other players are back, even if I let Carrick play in London for reserves because he needs to play matches when you are five months injured. He told me it was his first game for the reserves."

The England midfielder has spent three months on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Van Gaal on Valdes

Football

Posted at 16:06

Former Barcelona boss Van Gaal on Valdes:

"It is not a surprise [he's training with United] because I have done it with lots of players. I have a relationship with a lot of them. I gave Ronald de Boer and Edgar Davids training possibilities in the past - Valdes is one of these players.

"Robin van Persie also. When he played for me in the Dutch squad, I allowed him to use our medical department to keep fit for the World Cup. I wasn't the manager of United at the time, so I have always done it."

Victor Valdes

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal confirms former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is training with the club:

"Every human being is special because they all have identities. It's a principle of my philosophy that you have to respect the individual human being. He's special because I've worked with him and we've retained our relationship, which is not always the case."

Is Valdes set for Old Trafford move?

Posted at 16:17

Asked if Manchester United would be interested in signing Victor Valdes - who is currently training with them - Louis van Gaal says: "United always have their eyes open."

It seems all the pundits don't watch the games. Man utd defence barely had anything to do that game and west brom having 0 corners to. It probably was there most easiest game they had this season. One bolt form the blue and one slepy right back and they score 2 goals and do nothing elses in both halves= being pulled apart

Remember in 11/12 season start we were conceding tons of chances but getting away with it, this season we let in the fewest chances in a while and concede nearly every half chance the opposition get.

“There was Rafael and Blind marking on corners tonight. United are going to have to deal with that from a physicality point of view because Jose Mourinho will test them in areas they don’t want testing.
................
this witchunt against Man utd defence has rubbed off on Gary Neville to, to make up things that didn;'t happen as there were no corners to defend

I am starting to think all pundits are made to troll man utd to get reaction.

I think Van Gaal's strikeforce will get through the Blues defence but I just cannot see them keeping Chelsea out. There will be lots of goals at Old Trafford and I am going for a 3-2 Chelsea win.

If United do lose, maybe Van Gaal might give up on the title.

He said this week that he thinks United can still catch Chelsea. Sorry, but who is he kidding?

Van Gaal's side are already 10 points behind Chelsea and I cannot see Jose Mourinho's side losing four games all season.
.....................
another pundit has predicted a chelsea win. When was the last time Chelsea scored 3 goals at OT As Keegan says I would love it if we beat them, I want us to win the title more then ever now to shut the haters up.

posted on 25/10/14

I mean does he have a crystal ball to see that Chelsea won't lose more then 4 games this season. I wonder if Savage was saying the same things about Arsenal last season after the way they started.

posted on 25/10/14

Arsenal after 9 games had 22 points, hopefully by the end of Sunday Chelsea also have 9 games and 22 points and both times the only defeat suffered in those 9 games by Man utd.

Man utd ended chelsea 40 game unbeaten run to back in the day and I don't see this chelsea side as scary as the team we faced but I see this man utd side way ahead of the side that beat chelsea 1-0.

posted on 25/10/14

Keown thinks man utd can beat chelsea definately so one pundit finally backs man utd on football focus. Schmeichel says we need to buy at least a defender in January to compete for the title probably next season. I never understood why we did an Arsenal and not get in the required defenders.

strinctly come dancing west ham fan predicted man city to beat west ham 2-1 and the other person says Man utd 1-4 Chelsea and the west ham fan was nearly laughing why the the other person said have you seen Fabregas Whattttt

Fabregas used to get dominated by Anderson. This Fabregas amazingness is fitting as Barcelona without him gone to another level, if you just ruffle Fabregas up he won't get a sniff.
