We played against an awful team thankfully

We would have been utterly fecked without welbeck in this game. He held on to the ball all day. If santi knew how to shoot, it would have been 5-0.

Well said Godfather. in control 90% of the game and should have scored was earlier in the second half. Santi missed loads of chances.

nah they havent lost at home this season and they were due a reaction. The way we setup gave them a lot of respect. we played like chelsea away. we were solid, took barely any risks and like maureen teams, pressure them till they made mistakes

Monreal was a beast today, and I think Mertesacker's words this week led to him putting in a proper leaders performance today. Arteta makes us so much more solid, but Cazorla and Chamberlain need to really look at themselves, really poor from both of them today. Ramsey and Walcott to come in next week for me.

Last 2. Against Hull we were unlucky.

We had to cope with moving/changing 3 of 4 defenders part way through as well. Never easy to do.

he was poor at times last season but he impressed me in last few weeks. He is very assured and doesnt take risks

Maybe we should have played like Man City after their CL tie!

what annoys me is that if chelsea had played like this everyone would be creaming over maureens tactical genius. We pretty much played exactly how chelsea played against us this season except we dominated posession and had more shots

True. But just look at the chances that Santi missed today! So it balances out. And I don't remember Sunderland threatening at all aprt from a nutter charge from Chesney.

starting line up was picked specifically to keep posession be tight at back and low risk. this type of performance will help us get our defensive stablity back

I doubt it. If he did it against a top side, like he did against us, then yes he would be lauded as a tactical genius for getting his tactics spot on in a big game.

The difference is Chelsea have generally been blowing teams away and even if they aren't, they are more often than not winning all their games, whereas we are playing dour football and have not been winning.
