vdv was class, but tarrico raises a good point. how can you rely on a guy who cannot last past the 60 minute mark?

Bu VDV could only play 60 mins, which for a seasoned pro is p I s s poor
----------------------------------------------------------------------
flawed genius, good fit for Spurs at the right time
Chronic I think comparing Eriksen to stephen Carr is a bit different than comparing him to modric considering Carr was a right back and both Eriksen + modric are attacking type midfielders. Modric run our midfield and Eriksen with his ability should to but Dosen't. To be honest I rate Eriksen but he just don't put the consistent amount of good games for me
At the rate with which we are nose diving, better enjoy the current poor squad...

scary but true
don. eriksen isn't a central midfielder. that was the point i was making. not sure how you have managed to miss the point.
you cannot play modric as a deep lying playmaker in a cm 2, and then play eriksen as a number 10 in an AM 3, and then complain that eriksen doesn't do what modric did …… they have totally different job roles.
eriksen v vdv is a much better comparison.
ryan mason v modric is also a valid comparison.
capoue v sandro.
lloris v gomes
i am sure you get the point…
groovy v any other boring
evening groovy, the ja606 daddy long legs.
no doubt gonna be plonked on the spurs board for faaacking ages now being boring

This is close to the point i've been trying to make over the last few days. We go on about getting fourth and being in the Champions League.
But we tend to forget... Liverpool were a shambles, City were on their way up but weren't what they are now. We had Modric who'd adapted to the league and was playing well. Bale had turned his career around and was turning into a class player. Yet we only managed fourth.
Now we have younger players in the likes of Eriksen and Lamela who are going to be inconsistent for the next year or so. But we've been judging the club on two good seasons when we had players approaching their prime and when other clubs were a mess.

i am in the minority but i would rather watch 11 players who love playing for spurs, with less ability, than watching 11 high class players who couldn't give a shiiiit.
-------
Vdv clearly gave a shiiiit, as did Bale as do most. If you're talking about players that only want to play for spurs then you'd never have any greats. You're kidding yourself if you think any player over the last 25 years would have turned down Madrid if they'd come knocking.
-----
i agree with your point… which makes me think that you missed the point i was making..
Is eriksen still any good?
VDV, Modric and Bale served Spurs very well, but it was inevitable when Real Madrid came along waving Euros that required Bin Wagons to carry them around that the later two would go, and I wish them well. In the case of VDV he wanted to go and in fairness Levy didn't stand in his way. All three entertained us and we can but hope that we find someone of their calibre some time soon....PLEASE.
