Missing out on Sanchez has cost us

He would of been brilliant for you, he would suit your team 100%. Would of been a direct Suarez replacement, they are very similar players imo.

Top player no doubt, and Arsenal are reaping the rewards. Players of that ilk are worth their weight in gold.

I don't want to lay into Balotelli who has talent but in terms of value to a team there is no comparison at all.

How is it not also br fault he consistently plays balo on his own upfront which we all seen does not work

He was a big miss, has been brilliant for Arsenal, if its true he moved for London and his family, what can you do.

I feel we could have done more to sign him though.

Still early days. Things can change very quickly.

Personally think pool need strengthening in Mf like we do in defense.

Arsenal, Chelsea, City and probably even United have a better mf

When we didn't get Sanchez that was the end of that. We didn't even try to get anyone else close.

And this:

'And boy the players really need to take a look at themselves this season. Most of them haven't been able to adjust to a step up in class that the CL brings. And the new players brought in have contributed very little so far which has compounded the problem further'

is spot on because it tells you and me and fans living in the real world that he bought the wrong players for the job.

Someone wrote elsewhere that certain players will come good. That's not good enough. We can't afford to sit around waiting for them 'to come good'. Nor can we afford to wait for Sturridge to come back. When you spend £20 million on a player you expect £20 million worth of effort and we're not getting it, from any of them.

Even the established players from last season want to take a good hard look at themselves. No one is doing that at the moment.

I think it's long overdue for BR to tell it like it is instead of coming up with wishy-washy excuses like Sissohko was lucky and deflecting from the fact that his team and his tactics are just not working, then maybe we'll start seeing some of this elusive improvement we've been promised for so long.

That's my say, so now I'm off to scrub my steps before the personal abuse starts.

It's another thing you can look at your manager, for, granted London is probably a more appealing prospect than Liverpool for some foreigners. However it was reported that Wenger paid Sanchez a visit in Brazil to convince him to join Arsenal. The question you need to ask why didn't Rogers do this as well.

A £5,000,000 signing on fee would have helped.

P i s s i n g £20,000,000 up the wall on Markovic would have been saved !!

Can people stop mentionjng markovic. It is just depressing.

posted on 1/11/14

he is better than I thought he would be.

Agreed that he would have been a perfect fit for Liverpool. He would have loved playing with sturridge.

I only hope we as a team improve enough before Sanchez gets too frustrated with his teammates.

We aimed high and got knocked back as he saw Arsenal the better option. What followed has been a calamity. Spurs provided a blueprint how to waste money and we have followed this blueprint.

You can't replace world class with if, buts and maybe's.

what i really like about sanchez is his work rate. just like suarez he works his socks off despite being skillful as hell

Oh will people please shut up about Markovic the kid is 20 and has hardly had a chance and people have already written him off.

He wasn't bought for this season. He's one for the future.

posted on 1/11/14

fact is we didn't get him so move on ffs granted he's a fackin great player and would have been an ideal Suarez replacement

We are where we are and its not ideal and being brutally honest we need studge back asap to see what we can do

We bought him a year early atleast, but if we waited hed cost more

£20 million is a lot of money to spend on a 20 year old, but Sterling is younger and is worth a lot more. Markovic may well be one for the future, but £20 million is a big gamble to invest in a future player who may or may not turn out to be the business.

We can only wait and see, can't we? I mean let's face it right now we don't have a lot of choice.

As for Balotelli, he cost £16 million. He at least was expected to hit the ground running and hasn't.

Sterling is from the UK so knows the league. Markovic is a cracking player, seen him loads for Benfica and hes class. Cant help but think hes moved to a big league too soon. He should have stayed in Portugal for another year where he could have played game after game.

BR missed the trick by mile, If he wanted to fill squad with players who would perform he should look at Southampton did.

yeah its so easy to get every transfer right

Getting one right might be a good start though... 🙈

ok lets put it this way. is markovic better than suso. imo no way as good as suso yet we seem to be happy to ship him out. a young player with bags of potential whohas done much mkre than marko

posted on 1/11/14

Exactly I'm not slateing the player but really did we honestly need to splash out 20 million on him? Or could we have maby used his 20 million plus the 25 million we spent on lallana and perhaps bought a world class 45 million pound player?

posted on 1/11/14

The thing is we bought 3 "potential" players in 1 transfer window.
We should've bought to consolidate and NOT made crystal ball purchases.

Markovic is a mystery to me, he looked quality for Benfica but he's well off the pace. He was looking good in pre season but since injury he's looked poor. That's a worry in its self.

As for Suso, that's another bîtch, he was on the verge of a shot at the first team and them picked up a bad injury. It's been a shocking season so far for many reasons.

posted on 2/11/14

Comparing markovic to suso is an insult to markovic.

Markovic is a player of real quality and will take time to adjust to the league and the new surrounding. He was slow adjusting at benfica as well last year.

Markovic is considered the biggest talent to come out of serbian football in a long time.

Also, wheb i said from the summer that ayre and rodgers faile miserably by not getting sanchez i was slated because apparently his missus wanted london. Because convincing a player to move or a players missus to move is not at all in ayres and rodgers job description.

If you fail to convince the missus of a player, youre not good at your job - full stop. When your job is at the team that finished runner up in last season's league, 18 time champions and 5 times european champion, then you woefully helpless and without a doubt not the right people for your role. Harsh but true.
