Toure, Lucas and Manquillo

And replaced then with

Lovren, Gerrard and Johnson

Quite peed off with that to be honest. Effectively telling the non performers from last week that your guaranteed a place in the league games on the weekend. Kolo should have started quite clearly. Lovren has been tripe since he joined and now he's tasked with stopping the in form striker in the league

Poor team selection if I'm being honest. No players being rewarded for their midweek performances, same formational tactics which have been crap all season. Anyway I hope i'm wrong but i'm less optimistic now.

I dont think it was a case of resting players as such. I reckon it was him giving certain players a kick up the backside, showing everyone that no one has a right to a starting slot. He couldn't of picked a better game to do it, RM away.......

Also the 433 with Balotelli as the lone striker which clearly hasn't been working all season. Theres a first time for everything lets hope its today but I'm not optimistic.

Disappointing tbh, Toure in particular must be fuming. Balotelli as the lone striker, hmm. Optimism has decreased somewhat.

We should start a game to predict at what minute Balo will hit row Z.

He's our best right back. I'd say that would be the reason. This game needs experience which makes me even more confused as to why Toure didn't start.

you know what this team has me more p!ssed of than the one at midweek. what does kolo have to do to staft today. lovren has been rubbish and he just walks in despite kolos superb efforts in midweek.

Bit if a joke really, play well and get dropped, play shiiiit all season and get selected .

TOOR have you actually watched him over the past 18 months? Awful on the ball, constantly dispossessed and poor defensively. Manquillo has far outperformed him so far and deserves to be ahead of him

Maybe Kolo's fitness levels aren't up to two games a week?

Tbf i dont think we could really afford to go with 2 up front today, Chelseas midfield is top class and we'd get overrun. However, I wouldve still gone for Borini

I find it unbelievable It's Balotelli as a lone striker yet again, unless Sterling plays up top next to him then Coutinho behind but I highly doubt that. It's clear playing Balo as a lone striker doesn't work and never will so why is he persisting with it <doh-)

And yes he had an excellent game midweek, but some people have short memories. He was constantly mocked last season for his ability to produce a clanger. One good game shouldn't guarantee a regular starting slot.

Yes, have you? Had a poor season last season but before then and since then has been good. Far better than Manquillo who of course has time on his side. Against Chelsea is certainly not the right game for him.

What message does it send to the rest of the team to see a stormer from Toure rewarded with being dropped? Back to one up top with a player who has failed to carry the attack on his own all season,
Lucas excluded for Can, I could go on but there's no point. God help us in this match.

I think Toure had his only good game of the year on Tuesday. He will probably be back to a liability again.
