Fair play to Moyes for doing this. He's a very good manager who deserves a second chance and to rebuild his reputation.
It's a very common thing for people to knock other people and then assume that once that person has been fired that they're tainted for life.
In reality (especially football) nearly every manager gets fired at some point or another (even Jose was technically fired at Real) but they can always get another chance elsewhere.
There were more than enough mitigating factors at United (as is being shown this season) why Moyes failed but he'll hopefully do well in Spain.
Good luck to him. Only a bitter fool would wish anything else.
This just goes to show how tough the PL is and how weak La Liga is by comparison.

I think I read a stat somewhere that he'd beaten 1 top-4 side in 40-something attempts...or was that just his away record against them?
Yeah, just the away record. Plenty of away draws but a lot of home wins. Good record against City under Moyes (at Everton).
Let's see how he does. I suppose Sociedad might be looking to return towards their more traditional "nitty-gritty" style of football, but right now with ball-playing midfielders like Xabi Prieto, Canales, Granero or Ruben Pardo, a bit of steel seems to be what they're missing.
They've fallen badly off the pace for European footy, but they certainly don't seem bad enough to be pitched in a relegation fight. The squad they have is more than good enough to comfortably finish mid-table.
It's an odd choice for Moyes but he managed against them twice last season so must know a little about them.
If he can reignite them then it could be a redemption story for him. There have been some good British manager success stories in Spain over the years and i'd like this to be one of them because whatever people want to level at Moyes, no-one can deny he's a nice, hardworking guy who deserves a second shot.
All I keep hearing is excuses for Moyes, oh well.

A guy like that is always gonna be difficult to love because he doesn't fit in with the image of what United supporters think our team should play.
He would have to score a goal every game to even be thought of as United material and even then people would say that it's not the United way to play hoofball even though we don't actually play hoofball with Fellaini in the side.
I personally love having a bit of steel in there and it's a shame his job on Fabregas (only player this season to stop Cesc) has been forgotten in a need to slate one of our own.
