My brothers have both ps4 and xbone. Not much difference in them regardless of how much you want there to be. Tbh i think xbone has a nicer setup.

regardless of the technology of either the games will be so similar that only those pulling for one or the other will care to find the differences. The ps3 was more powerful than the 360 and they failed to do anything to show that vast superiority until when?? The last year? Big deal.

Sorry Willy but only WUM comment out of the 2 was yours. RtM is pretty much spot on.

This generation was more a much needed hardware update rather than a new console experience like previous generations. Also we will start to hit several ceilings over the coming years. Things like graphics wont improve so much, the changes will be more subtle. This generation we wont see so much difference between say GTA V and TLOU to GTA VI and the TLOU 2, the horse power just isnt there, yes we will see some improvements but not much. The bigger difference will be game sizes and complexity of the games. We will see 64v64 on PS4 BF5 for example.

As for your opening post, me personally i would get PES, but im certainly not saying its the best football game ever, better than FIFA 15, but still lacking with a few annoying bugs that can get really frustrating. Pretty much every foul leads to a yellow, and some random physics can get really annoying also.

For me

PES 8/10
FIFA 6.5/10

FIFA has just too many game breaking bugs like super dribble, terrible defending, and super speed. It does however look very pretty.

It must very different to the demo because I can easily control getting yellows. It generally only happens if I've lunged in with a leg or tackle from behind. Also, what is it about the physics that is really annoying? Just wondering because I was going to get it today.

Random collision and strange body blocking with falls/stumbles, and also when you lose the ball or it hits another player you sometimes have half a second in which the player cannot control the ball.

So to further explain you make a tackle, you win the ball fairly and the player you tackle falls over the ball continue to travels now away from the 2 players, the opposition playeris now in front of you. 2 or 3 things now happen, 1 your player falls over the downed player that in real life would be very easy to avoid. 2 your player attempts to vault downed player often leading to some random cutting and collisions with the graphics. 3 your player attempts to vault the player, hits and invisible wall ends up behind the downed player who has now got back to his feet and who has now managed to gain control of the ball again.

And the fouls yeh the ref seems to have got worse since the demo, as i also found it was maybe only 1in5 was a yellow, now pretty much 3-4/5 end as yellows.

Will play a couple of games and post some videos if i have time of random going ons.

Not game breaking like some of last years stuff, just occasionally frustrating.

Sorry Simon I disagree the PS4 was designed to be ten times more powerful than the PS3, the big difference this gem will be how easily they tap into that power.

The PS3 was notoriously difficult to program efficiently and took years to tap into it's power, this gen was built very much with the developer in mind which is why the PS4 is based around has unified memory and familiar x86 tech.

Do not judge this gen on what you are seeing now there is a lot more to come, sure on paper the PC is more powerful but as you pointed out the PS4 can be maximised because of it's closed tech.

the differences between the xone and PS4 architecture is bigger than you think.

No, Simon was right. We will see slight graphical improvements. Not so much how 'real' things look but how much more happens on the screen, how much bigger games are and the capacity for online games like he said.

The graphics are one of the biggest improvements of the PS4. go to a shop and ask their opinion and that'll be the first thing they say. I did when i bought the ps4. asked what the main difference is.

PS4 is still a child in terms of consoles. It has a lot of potential to improve. I think we will get plenty of features where at the moment we dont even think is possible.

posted on 21/11/14

The graphics potential is there it hasn't been tapped into yet as the tools to do so are still being developed, there is a lot of unused assets still not utilised people will begin to see the PS4's true potential next year.

It is a lot more capable than people realise.

I dont agree. we saw in the ps3 that we started to see its full potential as the years went by.

PS4s are still young. Sony will have made a console that has the potential to grow.

posted on 21/11/14

RtM of course the technology is out of date any tech you buy today will be out of date as technology moves forward at an amazing pace.

That doesn't mean the PS4's power has been tapped that will take years, all you are pointing out is if Sony were designing a PS4 today it would have better tech which is stating the obvious

posted on 21/11/14

The PS4 is like a gamers PC of like 4 years ago!

And that is powerful trust me

Do you think our partnership is weaker on pro clubs than on fifa 13

posted on 21/11/14

Also 1manontherun as Simon West has pointed out unlike the PC the PS4 hardware is fixed meaning developers can program to the metal. the PC has so many variations it never reaches it's potential.

The PS4 as you said should not be underestimated.

How you mean?

It is different!

posted on 21/11/14

10 times more powerful though doesn't mean we will have 10 times better graphics or 10 times bigger games. I know you like to keep quoting that fact but as with things like game development that means you can get a few more shaders on the screen, or a few higher res skins in the game and that really is about it. Yes the consoles will easily keep banging out the games that will be more or less on par with PCs but the difference here is this gen is about profits, both m$ and Sony are struggling with profits and built inferior tech with more profit built in from the go. Yes we will be able to optimise the cráp out of them but it doesn't hide the fact that its 4 year old tech and there is only so much optisimation that can be done. People are also arguing that this gen is in its infancy but in reality it isn't devs know the hardware and the way to programming it, its not an all new cell processor like before but its a bog standard CPU/GPU number they have progrming most their lives. Also both companies have set out their stalls and said 1080@60fps is fine which with all things considered in today's tech is a pretty small jump but one already wanting 50% of the 10 times more

It is familiar to devs Simon but not the same

Not too sure what you are trying to say Amiga, as that pretty much reiterates exactly what I said.....

Good article though

posted on 21/11/14

It's not the same as what has gone before, sure it is familiar but to get the most out of it will take time, there is a lot more to the PS4 than what you are seeing now.

The next few years will see a much bigger leap graphics than what you seeing now.

posted on 21/11/14

if they released the ps4 now, they could have made it powerful enough for 4k

posted on 21/11/14

4k is a red herring, sure it's the future maybe even selling the majority in the shops in a few years, but it will be a long time before it overtakes 1080p in the home and by then Sony will be ready with a new console.

1080p is perfect for this gen.
