What happens if england lose to the ireland team???? wouldnt that technically back fire to the selectors for sending a 2nd string team to face ireland. Remember this is the same ireland team that won a record chase against England.
Finally someone notices the elephant in the locker room.
It's a duty to lose to Ireland to help keep their ranking high for the next WC.
Looking at the weather D/L will perhaps decide the result.
there was an interesting interview with one of the ireland coaches who was around when morgan first got the attention of the ireland setup when he was 12/13. even at that age morgan was quite clear that his ambition was to play test cricket and to play for england.
if you had given him an ultimatum back then that if he chose to play for ireland then he would never have played for ireland in the first place.
the rules are quite clear and they actually benefit ireland
how many non-irish players do they have playing for them ?
how many others might have made the same decision as morgan is on record as saying he would have, if they playing for ireland would forever prevent them from the opportunity of playing for england and from playing test cricket
oops meant to say
if you had given him an ultimatum back then that if he chose to play for ireland he would be unable to play for england then he would never have played for ireland in the first place.
Rich don't get so serious about it. I've heard that anecdote before, maybe it's even true.
This game reminds me of a village team turning up one man short and the opposition lend them a player for the game.
well it came from a 3rd party not direct from morgan which suggests its more likely to be true imo
i agree however that the game tomorrow is being taken less than seriously by england imo and we are showing irish cricket and the irish public massive disrespect with the team we are sending
cook especially should have gone and not left morgan in the situation he is finding himself in being open to these sort of questions
Lets look at the facts. Ireland don't play test cricket England+others do, so if a player from Ireland wants to play test cricket he has to play for a country that does.
If the rules were once you have played for Ireland in an odi you can't represent a country at test level how many would play for Ireland in odi's? As the rules are its far easier to play for England than the others.
At the moment Ireland are between two stools, because players see test cricket as 'the goal', so this should help Ireland as Irish players see this as a 'stepping stone' but then they lose their better players to test cricket
Ireland have often had non Irish players in the team.
If the current trend continues, one day England will turn up with more Irishmen than Ireland.
nah , i dont think boyd rankin is anywhere close to playing for england tbh , not with the depth of seam bowling we have
george dockrell on the other hand

comments like that are so last year
Why does Neon use the royal we when talking about England? I've seen it before, surely he's not now claiming to support England.

"English cricket is rotten to the core and will never support the side."

care to explain that comment ?
england follow the rules set by the ICC and agreed to by every country afaik
in fact the ecb actually apply stricter rules for eligibility that the ICC require them to
English cricket is rotten to the core and will never support the side.

That's some claim to make without backing it up.

Fair enough Neon, you're right you don't need to back it up, just an odd comment to make without doing do, makes in seem kinda shallow comment, but fair play.

And you're entitled to it Neon as i've said, fair enough. We are all allowed an opinion, just normally when people give it they back it up, when it's a comment like the one you made, i sure would. But to each their own, we are all allowed to make throw away comments and not back it up.

No need to apologise neon, thanks, but no need. As you say maybe if it's something you don't want to back, can't or just have your own reasons for not doing so, best not to air it. Anyway onward and upward.
