Why do we call anything....well anything. Lots of stuff to do with space and such would be my guess. And Starkiller is a sith or dark Jedi can't remember which

No it's more exactly what it says on the tin. A dark Jedi is just a Jedi who may not be as morale correct as a standard Jedi and uses their powers often for their own gain. Sith as well are more of a cult. So potentially you could also have a light sith, though pretty unlikely due to the rule of 2.

hmmm interesting... I wasn't aware of Dark Jedi...
is there anyone in the canon who is?
I take it Anakin was one, before he turned Sith?..

"A Dark Jedi, on the other hand, has much smaller ambitions. He—or she—thinks only of himself. He acts alone. The ultimate goal is not galactic conquest, but personal wealth and importance. Like a common thug or criminal, he revels in cruelty and selfishness. He preys upon the weak and vulnerable, spreading misery and suffering wherever he goes."

i guess battle of endor was not the end of the empire and that it struggled on even without emperor n Vader?

who took control?
------

Ansolutely not - it lost its spearheads sure but the Empire was huge and my guess is that it just fragmented.

Han Solo says to Rey/Finn "It's true... all of it"

This tells me that for some reason, the events of Anakin/Luke etc have become nothing more than Legend.

Someone or something has clearly spent the last 30 years erasing/downplaying the events of the final confrontation and this would help explain why Kylo would want to carry on Vaders work - he doesn't know that Vader was redeemed.

Not only was it huge but there would have been 1000s if not millions of high ranking individuals who would be capable of steering the empire to a point. There is also a big possibility that Kylo was vadars apprentice

Erm cannon dark Jedi..........dunno my friend, after the latest cannon wipe I'm still not quite with what's what.

As far as Anakin being a dark Jedi I would say prob not, in the same way its easier becoming a radical from a religious person, than a none believer from a religious person.

Anakin was on the verge of becoming a dark jedi but as i mentioned,to be a dark jedi you must practice the dark arts. Anakin was not doing this although he called on the dark side unknowingly on a lot of occasions.

Not necessarily, you can be a dark jedi and use just what peolle consider to be "light" powers. But Anakin would have always been under the belief what he was doing was right, also he may not have known it, but during his atrocities he was basically palpatines apprentice

A lot of Jedi escaped order 66, and this doesnt include any force sensitive child who was not in the temple at that time either.

Anyone could turn to the Dark side in despair or anger. Altis had a whole ship full of them and trained them as Jedi.

It only takes the discovery of a sith holocron to train them in the ways of the dark side.

Not saying that is the case, but that the film makers can do or say anything really it doesnt have to make much sense in the context of what we already (or think) we know.

Erm if its still canon then this would be Darth Bane trilogy. Well he was the most recent iteration that was based on older sith theology, and they were never exstint but the rule of 2 basically meant there were only ever 2 sith a master and apprentice, meaning they would work more in shadow making them seem more legend than reality

ok, so the Darth Bane trilogy, hmmm...
I've never done the books or audiobooks. or played the old republic games.
Do you have any recommendations?

I have really enjoyed all the star wars books. The one most will suggest is the thrawn trilogy, which is as close to ep7 as you got prior to ep7. Darth Bane is pretty cool to see the history of stuff, there are a few Darth maul books which are also good. Other than that try and find an up to date timeline and jump in, main thing is just find the first book in the series

None.....thats the biggest problem, Disney has wiped everything post ep6, the only thing that is staying canon is pre episode 1 I believe.

Erm canon stuff includes rebels (cartoon) and some comics.

Ciniwolf, I pasted this back on page 1 of this thread

The New Jedi Order, commonly abbreviated as the NJO, is a multi-author book series that was published by Del Rey between 1999 and 2003, consisting of nineteen novels, three eBook novellas, and three short stories. Twelve authors in total contributed to the series, which was a collaborative effort conceived by representatives of Del Rey, Lucasfilm Ltd., and Dark Horse Comics during meetings at Skywalker Ranch in 1997 and 1998. The NJO is a chronological storyline covering a four-year span of galactic history, beginning twenty-one years after the events of Return of the Jedi and telling the story of an invasion of the galaxy by a race of extra-galactic religious zealots.
Within the NJO's pages, the Yuuzhan Vong begin a massive invasion of the galaxy, and quickly gain ground despite efforts at repulsion made by the New Republic and Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order. Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, and a new generation of heroes battle the bloodthirsty fanatics as they overtake an unprepared Republic, killing untold numbers of innocents and devastating countless planets, even conquering the galactic capital of Coruscant. Eventually, a rebuilt galactic government, aided by the Jedi and the mysterious living planet Zonama Sekot, overthrow the Yuuzhan Vong and save the galaxy. Characters from the original Star Wars trilogy of films play large roles, as do established Expanded Universe characters and new additions to the galaxy far, far away, all working together to repel the invaders.

As Simon said above, this seems to have been ripped up and spat out by Disney though
