Playing beautiful footie is important too,but then the team may not win things?
The FA pyramid has 92 clubs chasing about 4 league trophies and a smattering of elimination cups. Very poor odds off the bat already. As a fan, I guess we all have our reasons for supporting our sides.
For Arsenal or in general?
For us at this time it is more about being competitive, as long as we are not far off in the league and champions league it is acceptable. But at some stage you have to move onto the next level and start winning these tournaments.
For a team like Hull, I guess trophies don't come high on the priority list at the moment.
But it is cycles and all about improvement.
As long as you do better each year one day you will win something!
I guess we have all been spolit by some of the brilliant footie we use to play under Wenger and once you ever taste anything in life that is better than anything before it you tend to want more. Human nature I guess.
I remember supporting some real bad Arsenal teams in the past, sometimes I wonder how I did that, I guess it was my love for Arsenal FC. The thing is now I want the beautiful footie back again.
The definition of good football is subjective.......the definition of winning football is definitive....
So this is just a standard moan thread dressed up as something more.
We actually played some lovely stuff for the first half of last season. It wasn't just Ramsey carrying us as you suggest.
Excellent article. Considering our size and budget, we should at least be challenging for trophies, and challenging forcefully, right till the last minute of the last game. We lack a leader! We have some great players, a loose but okay system, but we have no tactical genius to make it all work. To put players where they want to be, and to fire them up, make them believe they will win things.
Wenger puts players in odd positions, and mumbles to them as they cross the line " play nicely boys, if you are very lucky you may even win! but I wont care either way, your wages are safe"
Probably!
Trophies are not necessary, but they are desirable.
