Being Jewish doesn't simply equate to being a follower of Judaism. It is much more complex than that. Intertwined for sure, but not as cut and dried as that

Jews do seem to be treated with extra sensitivity whenever their religion is mentioned. Obviously they've had some extremely dark times, caused by other people who don't like their fairy stories and believe others.

The debate over whether there is a Jewish race is weird. Who cares if it's racism or not? That's just a descriptive term for discrimination based on genetic factors. Not really much different to sèxism though they have different histories, and presents, in different places of course.
What really matters is the discrimination part. Not whether this type of discrimination specifically falls under the banner of 'racism'. Whether it's racist or discriminatory to some other subgroup is hardly the point of the discussion
