People talking up our title chances

We won't win the title, but it's not completely impossible, I think we'll finish 3rd this year which would be satisfactory and then hopefully push on next year

Unless Chelsea have lengthy injuries to Terry and Cahill, and a few of their midfield players, the title will go their way.

If City lose Aguero and Vince for a long period, then we may be able to challenge for second.

If players are asked if we can still win the title, they are going to say yes. and I have no problem with that.

No not impossible. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there was a time last season that Liverpool were 11 points from the top and ended up leading with 3 games. Not impossible but very improbable against this Chlesea team

We've played 2 more games at home than we have away. 8 at home, where we are strong again, but just 6 away, where we've won only once. We've not really come close to getting our away performances as good as our home ones yet. Hopefully we can put in a good away performance and a result to match on Monday.

If United win the league from here then Pellegrini and Mourinho should be sacked on the spot.

Because that's the sort of balls up it'd take from both teams for that to happen.

Let us re-write history. Pearson's shot not deflected, out for a goal kick fa cup 77'.
Have you ever won the treble have you fu k,have you ever won the treble have you fu k.....United are still the biggest, most important club in europe. You can detest it but you cannot deny it. If sh itty finish 7th,chelsea 6th,nobody goes to their games, fact. United are the greatest football team..

It would actually be a major shock if we won the league. We may be able to go on a decent run, but we would be needing both Chelsea and City to falter badly, which whilst not impossible is highly unlikely.

The only thing in our favour is that we are winning games without being at our best, and we are likely to generally still improve, although there may still be a few blips on the way. Of course as fans we always live in hope, but whilst I would have been happy with top 4 a few weeks ago, I think 3rd is well within our grasp.

Go back 4 weeks ago and it was all doom and gloom on here, LVG doesn't know what he is doing, I can't see any improvement, Moyes was better, etc. bollox.

Now all looks hunky dory.

Vidicschin - a lot find it difficult to look long term and quickly question what the manager is doing when things aren't going right. I genuinely felt that there was progress a few weeks ago, albeit almost painfully slow, but it has improved a bit more rapidly in recent weeks.

We are still somewhat grinding out results, which is a good sign because as performances improve, the results should get even better with more convincing wins, but as I said before, when there are a few blips along the way there's no need to immediately lose heart.

I may not agree with all that LVG does (which fan does, we all disagreed many times with Fergie's decisions) but ultimately LVG is a top class manager who does know what he is doing. As well as our own improvement, we do find ourselves top 4 because of other teams weaknesses, but outside City and Chelsea, I see little to suggest that we are not capable of finishing 3rd, never mind 4th. Of course it helps that Liverpool and Arsenal are struggling compared to last season, but that's something we must take advantage of.

I had this very same conversation with Macca at the time. There were just a whole collection of little things that were showing improvement.

And I also agree with the rest of your comment.

We aren't going to win the title. I don't even keep an eye out for Chelsea's results anymore, they are just not our competition.

There've been a few overly-optimistic noises coming out of OT recently I think. Things are looking up, but there have been SO many false dawns over the past 18 months - people need to calm down a little. The game at Arsenal aside (and lets be honest, we had our fair share of luck there) these last four games haven't been the most difficult. Southampton will be a massive test.

I was never in doubt of LVG just because of those signs. Under Moyes it was just the same old same old with a couple decent results thrown in.

At the beginning of the season we were struggling but you could see the team slowly taking shape, even if it was only in brief 20 minute spells here and there. We still have a lot to improve on as well, not to mention the hope of a fully fit defense at some point. I'm not sure if we've had a single game this season with our first choice back 5 fit at the same time.

I remember having arguments with Liverpool fans about how we were looking like we had potential to improve while they looked pretty lost and hopeless this season. This was months ago though and all they pointed to was either them being above us, our weak schedule, or us shipping 5 goals at Leicester.

People make too much out of this sort of stuff, in my opinion.

Say they can't win the title and they're defeatist, say they can' and they're deluded. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

BTW Moyes has managed his 2nd away 0-0 draw. 3 clean sheets out of 3 but 1 win only and today his side drew 0-0 to a lower league side.
