Please quit with the diaby rubbish.
The guy will never be fully fit for us. It will be scandalous if he is offered a new contract. Wenger has not reinforced during transfer windows because of his love affair with Diaby.
Sanogo is another one. He is younger but his injury record is worse than diaby and I expect him to fill the void left by diaby on the treatment table
I think it is two reasons, Oxtail.
1) He is always injured, that is not going to change.
2) Even when fit he is not that good a player. He may have had a few good games in his time here, but the large percentage have been average to poor.
DJ, I am not disputing that. My argument is that it is bad enough that he was unfortunate to be at the end of a terrible tackle. He is doing his best and his employers are supporting him. Why do we fans have to make a mockery of such hard work, persistence and faith?
Apart from our manager no one has any faith in Diaby. The guy couldnt even manage to play for 90 min. It seems we are now a charity club in given him a new contract. Only at Arsenal
While Diaby’s original ankle injury was horrific, there has to be a time when sentiment is replaced by a degree of realisation that he is not going to be able to fully recover.
From a commercial standpoint the club would certainly like to get a fee for him rather than him leave on a free transfer, so can understand why he may be offered a new contract.
Rocastle, Overmars, Vermaelen.
Three players, off the top of my head, that made a bigger contribution to Arsenal FC who were sold with question marks over their fitness.
Trouble with Diaby, there is no question mark. Everyone knows he is more or less finished as a full time professional footballer.
Wenger tells us he hates inflammatory comments - the story about his contract extension that emerged during the dark days of last season being a case in point - yet he himself seems to love frequently dropping little bombshells like this.
Next February will mark a decade at the club for Diaby. For much of that decade, as Arsenal struggled to stay competitive on the pitch due to diminished financial resources, the Frenchman made little to no contribution whilst taking up not only a valuable squad place, but even more precious wages.
Though reasons for keeping Diaby on the books were a hard enough sell back then, now that the club has more spending power, it feels like there's even less need to keep him on now.
Any vitriol Gooners may have towards Diaby needs to be directed elsewhere.
No banners though, please...
even if we only get 50% of this it will be worth the wait
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyPB2XSwVX0&feature=youtu.be
PS. remember he only takes his wages is he is training or playing now
so no play no pay
IMO Arsenal have treated Diaby very well indeed since his injury but it has to stop somewhere.
This is a contract renewal after many years of salary payments to the guy thats hardly played which is more than fair enough after his career ending tackle.
It's time to call it a day and it would be insane to offer him a new contract this time around.
I honestly reckon the squad space is more precious than the wages Lex.
Wenger clearly sees Diaby as someone who can challenge for a spot in the first team, fack knows why. On the ridiculously rare occasion he is fit he's decent but that's all.

How much has Diaby been paid and for how many appearances. I strongly suspect that he has been paid over £1m or more per appearance over the last number of years. And thats appearance, not start.
I suggest we back the manager. We might as well.
well lets not get into squad places otherwise Flamini is the deadest wood there has ever been lol well not quite!
"How much has Diaby been paid and for how many appearances"
I am guessing you asked this when Rosicky and Van Persie were sidelined regularly? Look, let's just back the team. If Diaby is the only crock out of 23+ players, then fine with me.
Can't wait for Diaby to return. He'll prove the doubters wrong!
Diaby has been on circa 55k a week since 2010. Prior to 2010 he was on around 30k a week. In total he has received in or around £20m for his services to AFC.
Works out (very roughly) about £160,000 per game.
I want to give Diaby a 10 minute long cuddle.
I said last few years so how much per game since the contract in 2010?
Match day revenue for the Emirates is estimated at £1,000,000.
Baring in mind not all of Diaby's appearances have been at home, (not sure what away clubs generally receive for matches) that £160,000 per game must get even worse regarding the drain his wages have been on Arsenal's finances over the years.
Why? Diaby who is never fit will occupy a squad place instead of a talented youngster who breaks through into the first eleven. Look what happen. We register Diaby for the CL League instead of Giroud who was earlier fit than expected. When we speculate on someone's fitness we surely shouldnt count on Diaby's.
32 games played in four years.
55k x 52 x 4 / 32 = £357,500 per game.
And, as has already been mentioned, though Diaby is almost unplayable when he's on his game, even when he's fit he's hardly mister reliable.

So what Rooney gets paid then
Diaby hasn't been getting paid when he's injured and anyway his wages are a little fraction of all the money we spend! when he signed his last contact he was playing a normal amount of games.
While Diaby’s Arsenal career has been nothing short of a disaster, I cannot help but feel a degree of sympathy for him.
It wasn’t his fault he was injured, nor would he wish to be as useful as Gunnersaurus, and having to comeback time and time again after months on the side-lines must be mentally and physically gruelling for him.
Had he not been beset by injury I believe he could have been an excellent player as technically he is superb.
