Duncan Edwards The Greatest

I'm sorry but that doesn't really tell us a anything about the history of our club other than we lost some great great players in the Munich disaster, which any United fan should know already.

For me videos like this from spotty kids telling us england would have won 2 more world cups and United 2 or 3 European cups and that Edwards would have been britains best ever player make people question if he / they were actually that good rather than just appreciating them for what they were.

A great side taken too soon in terrible circumstances.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know who Duncan Edwards is.

As for your second paragraph??? The point of the video is to educate those who don't know who he was. How can they question how good he was if they didn't know about him in the first place.

I think unfortunately you take for granted what supposed United fans actually know about the history of our great club. I'd estimate around 50% of our fanbase haven't got a clue about Duncan.

You're right though. They were a great side and the tragedy doesn't do them justice in a football sense because some wrongly think it's a sympathy vote when the reality was they were exceptional as a side.

Looked amazing in the very little footage there is of him. Such a shame that we'll never now what could have been.

My pal who is also a city fan, has a program from the first game at Old Trafford after the Munich crash. It came from his dad who was a red. In the program it asks for prayers for Duncan Edwads recovery. It is overwhelmingly sad to read it.

What a load if rubbish. I don't know any United fans that don't know about Edwards with the exception of perhaps some young kids. The lad in the video is annoying too. Couldn't watch the video because of him.

Your name isn't Dunc?

Does that mean Elvis isn't called Elvis?

Comments like "imagine losing a 20 year old beckham or Rooney, but times 10" don't help him.

That program is something I'd love to read. Must be very precious to him. I always find it amusing how many posters on this forum arrogantly go on the offensive about this sort of thing. To me it's a good thing that threads like this are made because it gets people thinking about the players behind the tragedy. And what a set of players they were. As the video comments, Tommy Taylor was the most prolific footballer in world football when he died. Has to be one of United's best ever goalscorers.

Mark Goldbridge? No. I like his style though. Divides opinion but know his stuff unlike most of the youtube United wannabe's who are only interested in saying what people want to hear. Mark does have a bit of a face you'd like to slap but once you get past that his opinions are good.
