Chavvy,
Lampard was better played further back.
When Carlo 1st came he played Lamps further forward at the tip of a diamond, and it didnt work. everyone though it was a great idea but in reality he was best arriving late and not getting picked up.
No way would he have worked as a no.10 CM or nothing.

We seem a lot weaker physically in midfield even though Makelele and Tiago weren't the biggest physically, Nor was Lampard I guess. We just seemed much more powerful in midfield, Could be down to the goals from Lampard. My combined team would be:
-----------------Cech----------------
Ivanovic Carvalho Terry Gallas
----------Makelele Matic----------
---Robben Lampard Hazard---
----------------Drogba--------------
Only 4 players from this current side get into that combined side, I'm not including Drogba and Cech as they aren't starters and get limited game time.
No doubting the 04/05 team was better.

Thing is lampard is bigger than most people give him credit and with POWER it also includes general fitness and stamina for me, makelele was like a little pitbull who rarely got bossed off the ball and was fit as anything, lampard was ridiculously fit.
But I think the power came later tbh with essien and ballack.

That was my argument (i used the Carlo/Tip of Diamond point as well) for why it was the correct decision to let Super Frank go.
The buzz around the place
Drogba in his debut season was fairly good but not great.
Costa is definitely better.
Chelsea team of 2004/2005 had better defense and better wingers in Robben and Duff and we could score regularly from midfielders and we played with two strikers up front in Gudjohnsen and Drogba!
The buzz for sure, we were running on pure adrenaline for the first two seasons after Romans arrival.
