Morning RID.
Just need another 10 and promotion sorted๐
Watters, sounds as though you're near the epicentre of the breakdown of civilisation there. Hope you have wine and victuals to keep body and soul together, and sufficient logs and pelts to stay warm.
Since daybreak today sun, rain, wind, hail, darkness.
It's not right that kids are safely indoors playing online war games when they could be falling off bikes outside in the rain.

Cat,I have that plus the M in Law.
Watters, I also have the MiL here.
When the logs run out I'll throw her on the coals.
I was supposed to be at in-laws yesterday but fortuitously spent it 51 miles away...
Good morning Rams fans and what a Boxing Day fixture that was. First of all I would like to congratulate Steve McClaren on putting Eustace in the holding midfield role. It worked a treat the rest of our players was up to the standard of last season. And in my personal opinion that's the best performance so far this season. An all-round professional performance. Bring on dirty Leeds

Good point Wassa I do feel he does still have a role to play this season, albeit mostly away from home. He gives the side more balance protects the back four

Jorvik, Wassa. Didn't we say before the game that Hughes would play better with Estate behind in the holding role? When I've seen mascarell play he seems to drift too far away from the CDM position. Estate is old and can't run so has to stay there! Give Hughes the confidence that there's someone behind him and he can control the game. Like it seems he did yesterday.
Peeder, I don't think he should be in every game & we won't win every game he plays in but he does give Derby more solidity especially away from home
Highlights guys...http://youtu.be/OiFopW0HX00
when Eustace plays alongside Hughes in midfield it gives Hughes more freedom because Hughes can rely on Eustace doing the defensive work without too much help from Hughes. This on top of the fact that Hughes knows he has to put in a performance to keep his place ahead of either Bryson or Hendrick.
only downside to the day was the group behind me constantly on Keogh and Martin's back. according to them neither Keogh or Martin are good enough to play for Derby....yeah righto.
Will reserve judgement on Eustace. Who's to say we wouldn't have won by more if Mascerell had been playing. As a general rule I don't see how you improve a side by playing someone of less ability.
Could be with Shotton in the side our defence lacks a bit of physicality. Even a stringy wimp like Bamford bullied Shotton so by being that physical presence Eustace took some of the load off Shotton.
I am concerned about attacking midfielders running at Eustace and drawing the foul just outside the penalty area. With his lack of pace he seems the perfect sucker for this tactic. No doubt Chelsea would have had a hat full of free kicks against us as this is one of their favourite tactics.
I didn't go yesterday but I understand Ibe and Russell had a field day against the Brum full backs. This is where we failed against Leeds and Boro. We never pressured them down the flanks where usually we are strong. Will be interesting to see if we have any more success on Tuesday. Then a good January and we will be well set for an automatic promotion spot.
spart...for me Eustace does the defensive midfield role better than Mascerell. He's more physical and will put a tackle in. mascerall won't. I remeber being at Brentford when they scored their 1st when their midfielder run 50 yards unchallenged by omar...wouldn't happen if Eustace was playing. Eustace is very underated at Derby for the job he does in allowing Hughes and Hendrick or Bryson have more freedom.
I was pleased with Ibe's performance yesterday as he's a player who frustrates me, but credit due....he put a shift in...
