He would be a good signing for 2-3 years for any club outside of the general top 4 of United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea - provided, of course, he doesn't 'do a Ferdinand' and become really shít.
Yh he would be a stunning signing for any side out side of the top 10 in the premier league. He's got MLS written all over him though
He would do a very good job.I would take any footballer of his standing. He would be an excellent model for our younger players.
Would command respect, is relatively fit for his age and doesn't miss many matches through injuries recently and would give crowd a lift.
Would he work for free though?
What a dream signing that would be.
Would he work for free ?
No chance,Cellino would want him to pay weekly dues to play for our club.
But as he's not an Italian 5th division part time player Cellino will probably never have heard of him.
Why would he have to work for free?
It's not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves meeee
But performance if he comes to Leeeeeeeds
Come on over Stevie
The percentage odds of Gerrard coming to Leeds are a big fat ZERO!!
He'd start for Arsenal and United
Rotated for City or Chelsea sparingly ala Lampard
I think Italy would be the best place for him to go
There is not a team in the world who wouldn't sign him in if they had the chance.
Sounds like we would all take him, but the likelihood of him coming would be slim to non existent.
What we really need is a top end PR guy who could convince him that going to MLS is not a challenge.
Who could then convince him that the challenge would be coming to Leeds and guide a group of good young players through the trials and tribulations of the Championship.
Not sure we have anyone of that persuasive calibre at the moment!!

Doha, great idea. But, not a chance he'd
come to us. Too much turmoil at our club.
And he'll have a boatload of options.

I bet there's a few on here who'd give it a go
There not one logical reason why he'd want to come
I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.
He's ideally suited to LA Galaxy where he'll get a decent contract financially and he'll get treated like a star.
Sorry to say it but he'd not have the commitment we need.
Highland - I'd be in the queue to convince him. LIW you're bang on right not one logical reason for him to come, but logic can sometimes be overcome by the need for a new challenge. Back in the real world we don't have a chance of him coming to us, just thought it would be an interesting to find out peoples opinions.

Eric - he has always struck me as the type of player to play with his heart on his sleeve. We'll never know whether that was just a Liverpool thing unless he joins a lower division team, rather than chasing the money in the MLS.

Don't get me wrong I think he's a tremendous player and has been for years.
But it doesn't alter my opinion. Gordon Strachan had points to prove and wanted the adulation / success and the buzz. Gerrard doesn't seem to me as committed. I might be wrong, but doubt it.
I think he's already been signed up and it has probably come out at such a strange time because someone else got wind of his intentions and was going to release it. I think his hand was forced.
Completely agree Eric
Strachan, had something to prove after way he'd been treated by fergie
Gerrard wants to move to states, for the lifestyle and the easy games ie pace of game
In championship he'd get kicked to bits
Eric you could well be right - guess we will find out soon enough. Just thought it was an interesting story to come out now and it got me thinking about whether he would be a good fit for us. Enough of the dreaming for now - we've got an FA Cup fixture to look forward to.

And an away win DohaWhite...! Remember that...!
Oh and I am now going to have a lay down in a darkened room and listen to Tina Turner warble having logged off and read the comments of LIW.
