Am I the only one who thinks he's past his peak and we're actually better off without him?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's probably not quite as good as he was two or three years ago but of course he would improve us.

Or are you worried that Willian or Oscar would keep him out of the first 11

Don't get carried away, he's been following me on Twitter for ages and I dismissed a facebook friend request from him last week!

He's becoming a bit of a nuisance to be honest

200 million is an absurd amount of money and of course we're not going to pay that.

However when you factor Adidas into the equation things start getting a bit more realistic.

He'd finally get to score a goal against Chelsea. In training anyway

A lot will be made with shirt sales etc as well.

I'd certainly buy a Messi shirt and I never buy Chelsea shirts.

Messi merchandise would go through the roof.

Do you think you would loan him out to Vitesse Arnhem if you get him, superb !!

Surely buting a player for 200m would effectively bar us from buting any further players.

Talk about putting all ur eggs in one basket. I dont believe we are after him, but if we are, to pay 200m on one player would be an appalling piece of risk management.

I believe this has been discussed at board level GUNNER but has been rejected by the Vitesse management!

A season long loan to Vitesse seems like the obvious next step. Just to make sure he can handle the step up to Chelsea

Then to see if he could do it on a cold wet Wednesday night in stoke!

Biggish what if Adidas are willing to finance most of the transfer fee ?

Would be a lot less risky for us and Adidas would get to nab Messi away from Nike.

The only chance Chelsea have of signing Messi is on a video/computer game.

And yeh that actually pleases me

I'd rather the club spent money on 2-3 quality players to give us a bit of depth......and the Plan B our title winning teams used to have.

lads , lads, Jose has stated we are not in the BIG TIME for super luxury players, our FFP budget will not stretch that far.

Today we are part europes elite clubs, but we are not financially in the very top tier, all of the bravado over our spending is blxx.

Real, Barce, Bayern, Utd, City, PSG, all are buying players & paying wages in excess of ours and have been doing for sometime.

As a club we are in the tier below the super elite.

We are in a good place, we are viable,But we are not going to be buying players like Messi at 200m, or Cavani at 400k per week and so on.

Its silly season and the gutter press have there troughs full.

Barca are after Ramires in return......I can sense it.

They can do one, the comedy element and entertainment value alone, is priceless as far as I am concerned.

Also the Transfer Ban Barcelona have just been given surly would be an issue , ??????????????????

or is Messi a special case, and surly replacing him would be problematic ?

posted on 6/1/15

Got to say that I do not think Messi would be as good in the PL as he is in La Liga.

Would rather Ronaldo or Suarez.
