*Deluded article* We can win the CL

Yeah but the problem is, sanchez may well be able to score 3 or 4 past Real Madrid or Barca or whoever, but we'd end up conceding 6.

If Arsenal won the CL this year, it be more undeserved than Chelsea's in 2012. I'd take the win, but no one would be deluded enough to think that Arsenal were the best team in Europe this season.

anything can happen in cups, if we can get to the semis it's just three games away from winning it. We should rest players to keep them fresh for the CL and FA Cups. Even if we get to the semis and take out one of the big teams on the way i'll take that, it's been ages since we've done anything in the CL.

City can't afford him, he would cost £80M+ ffs

not a chance we'd win it, even with Messi or Ronaldo let alone Alexis.

Chelsea's fluke win is the benchmark for all fluke CL wins but they still had something we don't, several senior players with a real winning mentality and tactical nous instilled from previous managers and their own personalities.

Drogba, Cech, Terry, Lampard, Cole amongst others. They had born winners throughout their side. We don't.

You probably don't remember their first leg against Barca. Terry kneed Sanchez and saw red, then they parked the bus between the 18 yards and the goal (even Drogba was in the box). Barcelona hit the woodwork so many times, followed by Messi hitting the woodwork on his penalty--it was the luckiest match I have ever seen. Then the final against Bayern--Robben missed his penalty, and you knew Chelsea would equalize and win. How were they deserved Champions? They didn't beat any of the teams in the knockouts convincingly, and Napoli couldn't finish the job to knock them out in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea deserved to win the CL, Barca created nothing at the Nou Camp. Bayern created little in the final. They were better than Benfica and Napoli. Stupid saying they didn't deserve it.

Likewise it would be stupid to say we don't deserve to win it if we did win it. Unless we cheated our way to winning it and had ridiculously fortunate officiating in our favor.

We have ZERO chance. Absolute zero. THAT defence could never hold out against Europe's best teams. Our midfield would also get overrun against any of the top dogs.

Chelsea won in the most surreal circumstances with by far the most defensive winning performances in the semis and finals. Their game against Barca was amusing to watch. They crossed their half-way line something like 5 times in both legs of the semis combined. We can't withstand that kind of pressure.

We have the best player to ever play for us since Thierry Henry and arguably one of the best players in Arsenal history (I know a bit much after being here for a few months but if he stays with us for a long time then people would probably agree with it).
--------------------------------------------------

I'd say Cesc is the best we've had since Henry. Centre-piece of the best football I've watched in England in '07/08. At least give Alexis a full season before crowning him with such a tag.

We could get to the final having only played Monaco, Basel and Dortmund. After that, anything can happen.

Chelsea's was the mother of all flukes, the semis and finals was all one was traffic and Bayern and Barca somehow kept missing easy chances. apparently they defended well but conceded over 100 shots over the 3 games. such a ish team and they get all the luck

Our performances in the last 2 games at Munich tell me we can withstand similar pressure to what Chelsea did. With a fully fit squad that is.

Wenger is tactically clueless against the big boys in England but for some reason in Europe, he doesn't ever get embarrassed. I think it's more that his arrogance and delusions cloud his judgement in domestic games and we set up to attack teams that are better than us, whereas in Europe, there is an acceptance that the big boys are better than us and we actually put in preparation to counter their attacking threats.

Add that in with Alexis and anything is possible. We don't have zero chance at all, we have a chance, albeit an extremely small one. We could get past Monaco, draw Porto/Basel in the QF, get past them and then Arsene would have 3 games against top quality opposition to navigate us past.

No, no you're right. Of course I don't remember arguably the most important match of the biggest accomplishment in my club's history fecking moron.

Fact is we beat the two best teams in Europe, one of which in their own stadium in the final.

And exactly wtf else did you expect us to do with 10 men at the Nou Camp you complete and utter div? Go at them?

And let's not bring luck into it, considering we could've had 3 CL wins before 2012 if it weren't for fecked up officiating (Liverpool/Barca semis) and terrible luck (Terry landing on his àrse).

Our CL win was the perfect demonstration of an undying will to win, an absolutely magnificent effort from the last 16 right up to Didier's penalty.

Just because it wasn't done playing Wenger's pansy àssed, win-nothing football doesn't mean it wasn't deserved. Obviously you will not acknowledge this as you're clearly a clueless, biased feckwit like your friend 9tlt.

lol beat stoke & CL winners are we. No chance are away record is poor i think we will get through past Monaco that is but it will be tight, Emirates tie will be very important. I dont like our chances in Monaco draw or slender loss, but i expect to win at the Emirates tho.

The article has nothing to do with the Stoke victory as I clearly stated

What happens if we draw Porto/Basel in the next round? Or Juve/Dortmund? Would you say we have no chance of beating them and getting to the semi final?

And then when we are in the semi final, where we don't even need to win any of the 3 remaining matches to be crowned champions, you would still say there is no chance?

posted on 12/1/15

Don't think we can win this competition. Not even with our best team available.

I expect us to buy one defender in January. It will be a CB most likely. That's not good enough.

The best we can hope for is a Semi-final when we have a bit luck with the draw next round. Expecting us to win against Monaco.

Bs.

If you're in it, you can win it.

Look at '05 and '12.

With Theo, Alexis, Mesut and Aaron we have 4 game winners. If these guys play well we can score 3/4 against anyone.

Unlikely... extremely.

Impossible... certainly not!

Sorry to put a downer on things but I do think we are all getting a little carried away with Alexis. I absolute love this guy, finally a proper star at the team, I have not been so excited about a player at Arsenal in a decade. But, he hasn't really turned it on against a big team yet. I have no doubt he will. He really feels like he has a feel for league now and is finding his feet. More assists in the last few weeks, and yesterday his distribution was excellent. Should have had a second assist yesterday if Walcott had his shooting boots on.

However, apart from Sanchez's strike against City, he hasn't be excellent against United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Tottenham. I am not for a second saying our losses and draws in those games were down to him, they were collectively bad team performances. But to say that Alexis is the lynchpin that can lead us to a CL victory is a little short sighted. Alexis hasn't led us to victory against a very poor, injury riddled United side at home yet.

One thing at a time.
