Anyway this is not very interesting. What do you think about your team not being able to manage a single shot on goal at home with the most expensive team in the PL this season?
"We dominated but didn't really create any chances"
No not an ancient Chinese proverb, but Louis van Gaal 2015
Shocking, as you will see from Utd related articles most feel that the formation is the cause of the problem. We are really, really poor. Centrally, we have too many players - none of who have an Aguero- or Toure-like 'scruff-of-the-neck' tendency - and wide we have two full backs who are expected to do the job of a FB and Winger and as such lose a lot of wide attacking play. Most of our players are being played out of position to accommodate, the Dutch player are being favoured despite form and a 19 year old was preferred on the bench to Falcao. The substitutions were baffling, Di Maria should have stayed on and we should have switched to a 4 formation, instead of bringing on Fellaini and changing tactics to lumping it into the box.
Agent van Gaal is a football genius.

The article is about how City and United are percieved by the media, I used some Robbie Savage quotes as an example.
Do you think I've gone wildly off-track.
The media will always play to what they believe the readership wants to read. Unfortunately for us, it is a better story if we fail than if everything was rosy. For United, it will be the same as under Moyes. The press started to turn as soon as they thought the fanbase did, so that they were safe to.
The other thing is that a lot of the Manchester correspondents in the main papers are more aligned to United, with a couple being fully fledged supporters (Mark Ogden is a prime example). Part of that comes from our period in the lower leagues and Fergusons dominance, so the papers hired journalists that focused on them. Now that we are at the top challenging, those journalists, like anyone, find it hard to shake their natural inclination.
There are snippets of great journalism still, it is just becoming hard to find. Personally, I just tend to accept it and ignore it. People will always be suckered in by it, all you can try and do is change perceptions on sites like this if you really want to. I completely understand those that don't!
Even the TV commentary during Utd games stays positive. For 60 minutes against Yeovil, Utd barely had a shot at goal let alone one on target, but it was Yeovil’s doggedness that the commentary focussed on rather than Utds lack of guile to break them down.
------------------------------------
I'm pretty sure that that is a case of being kind to the lower league team. Michael Owen, several times, said "Utd really are poor today" and then quickly added "but that's probably due to Yeovil putting so much effort in blah blah blah". I think they are told to, to make the little guy feel better.
Do you think van Gaal is jealous of Moylsie's records?
70%+ possession with a big fat 0 shots on target should surely be a record.
We need more Gary Nevilles, Carraghers and Lee Dixons the only pundits to speak any sense and not be biased
Haha, I think many of us wanted to dominate possession in games more but we've gone too far the other way
Yep, LVG broke another long standing record yesterday of Southampton not having won at OT for like 20 odd years.

You're 2 points off top spot, have just spent £28m on a striker and are spending your days getting upset that another team aren't getting such sh i t in the media. WTF is wrong with you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’ve got the wrong end of the stick entirely. I don’t want other teams to get undeserved c r ap from the media, I just want City to get a fair shout – good or bad - when we deserve it. Like other teams do.
The positives are down-played or ignored and the negatives are highlighted. That is the insipid and damaging undercurrent I mentioned in the original post.
No other team has this level of animosity constantly directed at it.
Yep, LVG broke another long standing record yesterday of Southampton not having won at OT for like 20 odd years.
The media made a lot of that but a lot of teams didn't get as much as a draw over the last 20 years.
"No other team has this level of animosity constantly directed at it."
Fans of all teams think this way - you only see positives for other teams and negatives about your own
Sherriff / Ruiney,
How about you contrast what your online fan forums are saying with what the papers are saying about Utd’s form this season and game with Southampton. Fans are being critical (rightly IMHO) but the media is pretty sanguine about Utd’s situation (they’re 4th dontcha know!). Utd have got the same number of points as Moyes had this time last season and he was already being touted as a dead-man-walking.
FFS, Utd are “the most expensive squad ever assembled in the history of British football” and the media are letting them off with 4th place and playing crap!

Oh...
Well, if it makes you feel better I think you play great football. you always keep the opposition on the back foot and whoever you play against genuinely look afraid. You pass the ball around the box without losing possession or passing back to your own half. You score a lot of goals; team goals, individual goals and forced own goals. I always fear playing you.
Feel better now?

Thanks Robben, love you too
Two articles on the BBC Homepage, by the way:
One celebrating how Koeman overcame us tactically: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30772060
And another making a (rightfully so) big deal about Falcao not being picked: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30772056

Like I said Robben,
one article focusing on the good play of the opposition (that's good), not Utd's inability to break them down despite their overwhelming financial superiority.
The other just being factual about Falcao - no criticism of Van Gaal's decision to leave him out.
Doesn't that rather support my argument?
Good article bell btw, definitely worth talking about.
