Cavani for me. Strong, always fit and doesn't always need service. Can make things happen on his own.
I couldn't care less about Falcao's reputation. If he doesn't perform here then look elsewhere, which I think we're pretty much doing going by reports.
Realistically getting Falcao game time is our best bet. I don't think canvani is quite what we need to get us back up to where we want to be in winning your champions league
op thanks for creating this thread saved me the time
falcao has proven himself over the years as possibly the best #9 in europe. But atm he isn't but giving time I am think he will get close to his previous peak.
Unfortunately time is not something he has. He is entering his peak years and so will be a huge risk for buyer and wages/fee/zero resale value
He had his audition and to put it bluntly he has done nothing more than chicharito would have given the chances.
I'd much prefere we bought a world class winger and played 4-3-3. Rooney, RVP and Wilson is more than enough to win a league if you are playing 4-3-3.
For the record I think Falcao will stay and prove his worth. These rumours are his stupid agent trying to get yet another pay day.
For the record I think Falcao will stay and prove his worth.
==========================================
That's a big leap of faith if you ask me.
I think his form has been massively underrated. Yes he hasn't been near his best but he has been a damn sight better than RVP, and he isn't returning from ligament damage.

I actually quite like watching Falcoa play if I'm honest and I think given the playing time (and the service which has been dreadful lately) I think he could be a really good player for us.
Although not at his best he has been productive with a couple of goals and a few assists, he just needs to get his touch back in my opinion. He seems to fit into the squad really well with players always praising his training and professionalism. This can also be seen on the pitch with the players desperate to set him up for goals.
We should stick with it till the end of the season and assess it then.

for the 1,015,876,378th time... Falcao is not the problem... LVG is
Don't care who replaces him. At this moment they are many players in this league producing much more than he is and they are not living on their reputation.
Look for the best striker not the top 4 who has some pace and buy him. I am tired of youtube players.
You have got Fellaini, he suits LVG's style of play perfectly

how is he living off his reputation??
the guy has only just been given a run of games, and the service to him has quite frankly been shambolic ( cool word of the day ) at times.
the guy at his peak 2 years ago was quite possibly the best number 9 in world football.... hardly a fair weathered youtube prospect.
you stick him in the city, arsenal, chelsea and even liverpool team and he will score goals, simply because they create chances.
btw as anyone seen LACAZETTE
Is he has good as he is being made out to be.?

Its the way we are set up, the tactics and the lack of dynamics in our game which is the problem, so Falcao or any other number 9, it doesnt matter.

4-3-3 is a narrow system for me.If you're playing it with 1 striker and 2 wingers pushed right up the pitch then it isolates the striker, and the fullbacks defensively. What you're actually doing is playing a fairly dodgy 4-5-1 set up.
D----D----D----D
----M---M---M---
A-------A-------A
If you want to play it with two inside forwards off of a front man, then it works much better, but you lose a lot of offensive width. This is definitely a better way to play 4-3-3 in my opinion though rather than the wider form, because narrowing the advanced portion of the side allows for more options to play in the center, and gives more outballs for the midfield 3 to play. This in turn, allows the fullbacks to get forward with more freedom and be more assertive moving up the pitch.
----D---------D----
D---M---M---M---D
-------A----A------
----------A---------
So the team has a better control of the middle of the pitch, and gain more territory. The center backs can spread wider and allow one of the deeper midfield players to occupy a quarterback style role very simply if you wish as well. Not alongside the pairing, but close to them to create a /\/\ shape with the fullbacks and offer a good amount of opportunity to play out from the back. This is what Barcelona did so well in there prime 3 or 4 seasons ago, spreading their center backs very wide, drawing the opposition on to them but relying on their players ability to pass it out and create more space further up the field for there midfield and forwards to hurt teams. They then used a false 9 and 2 alternating drifting forwards to stretch teams further, but that's not relevant to this.
I feel what would suit us the best is to bring in a player for the right hand side, similar to Di Maria with pace, tenacity, defensively hard working and direct, but for the right hand side while Angel would be on the left. This way we could operate with proper wingers and get lots of service into our forwards, but also who would be able to alternate drifting infield into the position behind the two strikers we often see Juan Mata take up. The modern version of a player in the hole. Someone who can play as a winger, and allow us to keep our width, but drift inside to alter the formation slightly and link with the midfield to form more of a 4-3-3 system. Especially if the player on the alternate side can then join the strikers to play as a 3 up front.

Could go on but not going tobecause runninglow on time now, but defensively this would besolid as well, with one of the attackers being Wayne Rooney, he'd have licence to join the midfield when required and not hurt our offense, but be able to be kept upfront when we'd rather he be there, instead of going walkies allover the pitch and sacrificing our option further up the field to make a tackle at left back. Funnily enough, the perfect player to do this would be Alexis Sanchez. Firmly believe we should bid for him this summer. Offer him, and Arsenal, the Falcao money and see what happens.
De Gea
Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
Alexis Herrera Carrick Angel
Rooney Lacazette
Valdes Jones Evans Blind Depay Januzaj v.Persie
or something along those lines give or take a player would be fine with me fo rnext season.
Arsenal paid Falcao money on Sanchez. I doubt they'd let him go for anything less than £100 million as they don't need the money.
