Keep him. Need his experience esp. in Europe.
I mentioned this 4 games ago. Some still want him outm they expect him to do everything. Score tackle defend attack pass hell even play in goal.
it is no coincedence that since lucas has been nack we hsve been much more secure on the counter.
I'd like to see another defensive midfielder come in. Someone akin to Alex Song. A bit more mobile and combative than Lucas for the games against the more physical side.
THat's not to say I want Lucas to elave the club. We still have this mindset of getting rid of players to bring in new ones. It's an attitude that came about under rafa because we were largely pennypinching.
The thing is, we need a squad, not a team, and Lucas is a vital part of any squad that we can put together.
Goofy...its not just lucas though. Can along with sakho have been equally as important and actually markovic does his fair share of tracking back.
These players coming back(above players) have added a solid platform to our play plus they actually play forward balls quickly. Big difference for us.
True gb they have helped as well. But lets face it gerrard as dm or lucas. It is no brainer esp wih the lack of movement we have upfront with no sas.
Form With Lucas: WLWWWDDWWDWW
Form Without Lucas: LWLDWDLLLL
Yes, only if theres a replacement.
An alright dm is better than no dm.
Oh and they need to be an improvement, not sell lucas then sign someone like delph as his replacement
Taking Gerrard out of that sole deep position has been the main success. Lucas has been decent and provides better cover than Gerrard did.
Lucas is bettee defensively than gerrard? Wow what a findmm

This literally sums it up. Sometimes we can get a bit bullied in midfield and we need someone who can get involved a bit more. A more physical dm, can and henderson keeping it tight with Sturridge, Marko and Sterling giving us pace in front to hit on the break.
Lucas could be replaced with better but it would cost a pretty penny.
His distribution is average, his shooting is laughable and his dribbling is non existent but these are luxuries in the position he plays and there are more important positions that we need to spend on first.
We could play can as dm, but atm the defence looks better with can than lovren there
Jeez are all our direct xompetitors gonna win this week!
I struggle to think of better DMs
that new bloke who plays for Chelsea is one.
United and Arsenal have no one. Spurs..nope. Everton.. nope.
Southampton have one.
The thing with Lucas is that Rodgers was hardly using him at all. If you are not going to use a player then sell and bring in someone who you will. Thats how I saw the situation anyway.

______
His distribution is not that good but non of our other current midfielders distribution is brilliant. He doesn't get forward alot to try his shooting. He did once yesterday and almost scored an excellent goal from outside the box but for the excellent goalkeeper save. Alonso dribbling was probably bad. Henderson shooting is poor.
Let's be honest, his excellent attempt at goal was a one off, usually when tries from that sort of range it ends up in row z.
Also I think you're being pretty harsh on some of our other midfielders who do have a good range of passing ability.
We need someone more mobile...as soon as the tempo picked up against Villa he went missing.
Dont ever try comparing lucas to alonso pls.
I think it is generally the folk that wanted Lucas out from the off that still want him out now. Things like 'he doesnt offer enough going forward' or 'score enough goals' are just covers to prevent from admitting that actually Lucas is a very good player.
And yes he could add the odd goal to his game. But I'd say the same of Coutinho, Henderson, Markovic and ever single midfielder bar possibly Gerrard (and even then the vast majority of his goals are set pieces these days). Lucas as the defensive midfielder is in there primarily to break up attacks, retain possesion cover other players breaking forward and protect the defence. Which he does as well as anyone around. His passing is excellent and progressive (despite how some people try to spin it).
Its taken him a good while to properly get over his injuries and yes towards the end of last season we were not playing a formation that required him as much. This season he has consistently been on of the most effective players on the field and its no coincidence that our best performances this season have been with him in the side.
Haha that injury was years ago, an alright dm is better than no dmm
