Humble Pie?

IMO far too early to make any definitive conclusions.

If the team are able to replicate yesterday’s performance going forward, and ensure that they are harder to play against (when playing the better sides) then hopefully, yes.

So we can all agree that Arsenal has turned a corner yes?

----------

No we can all agree that yesterday was the best indication this season that we COULD turn a corner. But as I put in a post yesterday, this was a corner we turned in March '13 after the Bayern away game and led to us having a really good 2013 where we had the highest points total and were top of the table.

It is anyone's guess why Wenger decided to allow complacency to filter in 2014 and abandon the defensive rigidity which saw us challenge. Injuries contributed yes to our downfall, but there was a gradual systemic and philosophical change throughout 2014 which saw us become very fragile again and slip into old habits. There is no justification for Wenger's formation change, lack of defensive reinforcements, and playing players out of position in the first half of this season.

All we can hope is that yesterday was a lesson learned and a template for how we approach the remainder of this season in which we are still in two competitions, and next season when we have a go for the league.

I think many of us are forgetting that we had a near strong squad to choose from. When we have a full fit 11, we do reasonably well. Injuries have been our downfall of late. When you look at yor bench and see the likes of Ozil, Walcott, Gibbs, Szczesny, rosicky... That should give you some level of confidence.

Was watching the West Ham game yesterday and Jenko had another good game. Left me wondering where does he fit in next season?

Next summer we will have three established RB’s and have a feeling one will be moved on, probably Jenks.

Progress.............Weren't we top in January last year?
Are you really giving him credit for Coquelin? He wouldn't even have played if it wasn't for injuries to Arteta or Flamini.

What's quite funny is Wenger basically done everything the WOBs have been moaning about - an actual defensive mid in the DM position, players in their correct positions, pace on both wings instead of CM's being pushed out there.

if he did everything the wob wanted he would be out of a job

Fans who have a bit more football knowledge understand that we are only tweaks and changes away from being a top side.

These articles are so facking annoying. AKBs are the biggest hypocrites on the planet.

Can you believe this is probably our best performance in an away PL game against one of the big boys in a decade and AKBs are now acting like Arsene has vindicated himself and are coming out with the told you so bullshít.

But when we get spanked by the likes of Southampton, Swansea and Stoke among many other humiliations in years gone by, it's "judge Wenger in May" (and when May comes it's judge him on the transfer window, then wait for the window to close, then judge him on his January signings, then judge him in May again, and the cycle repeats).

Arsene did a fantastic job yesterday in this sort of contest for the first time in a facking decade and suddenly we've turned a corner. We are in facking 5th. Yea we will finish 3rd/4th this season but that proves facking nothing. Wenger needs to get this team progressing. Another stab at the FA Cup, a decent run in Europe and defeating another one of the big boys a la Chelsea or United this season will go a long way to silencing his doubters.

Getting knocked out of the CL by the first decent team we meet, knocked out of the FA Cup for resting players for a CL match we go on to lose and then losing against Chelsea and United YET AGAIN whilst stumbling over the line to 4th ahead of Spurs on the final day can easily happen yet again and will be a failure of a season despite last night's magnificent performance.

Wenger has proven nothing except for the fact he was finally willing to show some tactical flexibility in a domestic match for the first time since we were actually a successful team.

Give it up nay Sayers. We have not had to sell to buy top class talent lately and the results are showing. Deal with it.

posted on 19/1/15

We are 5th, kid, 3 points behind Southampton who basically sold their entire squad.

Argue in favour of improvement if you like, but don't do it based on results ffs. Base it on injuries or bad luck or something

Best part is Oxtail claims he isn't AKB. Even he was too embarrassed to say it despite being one of the most clueless deluded mugs on here

Oxtail should stick to writing Arshavin vs Aguero articles

Would Coq be even at Arsenal had Arteta not been injured or Ospina in goal if Chesney hadn't thrown in the goals against Southampton?

More flexibility from Wenger in tactics is welcomed. Late but still welcomed. However his relationship and lack of ruthlessness that clouds his judgement is still very evident.
