Club legend?
------------------------------------

Yes I would say he is a club legend, not a legend in the shape of a Roy Keane but still nonetheless a club legend. Came through our youth system and went on to play 300+ games for us.

I'm no United fan but even I know he's not a legend, A great servant nonetheless.

He's like the Paulo Ferreria of chelsea

Man, I gave that boy flak in the '00s, and then SAF started with him in the middle regularly, and he felt at home, and his performances were there, all to be seen.
That's why UTD fans will always talk good of Fletch!
Club Legend is a tad too far, but a Respected servant, who we wish all the best and say thanks for all that he gave.

Good luck to him at the baggies.

Not sure we need to order a statue in though.

At least with a few out it frees up around 200k a week wages for new signings.

Was highly regarded by SAF. That's good enough for me. Good luck to him. Hope he can put the illness behind him and enjoy the remainder of his career.

Fletcher was a solid servant, who also was very lucky to play at the level he has done for decade.

He is certainly no legend, maybe a cult hero to some.

Bellion?

Nah, it was some sort of Bowel condition, far more serious...

Fletcher isn't quite a legend but for me he's in the category below that.

He was the ultimate club man and worked harder for us than most I can remember in the past 20 years. When you see the mercenaries that come and go from football clubs it's refreshing to see someone like him who was dedicated to United and didn't moan at all when he was benched.

He was a big game player for us who nearly always (pre-illness) could be trusted to do a destroyer-type role against more talented players and someone who we would kill to have right now.

He's the type of player who fans don't really get but who managers and teammates love. Like i said before, he won't go down as a legend but he was a very important member of our team back in the successful era of 2006-2010

Fletcher was a good servant but to make out he was great for us is just ludicrous

Who is making out he was great?

I think as fans we're allowed to celebrate a home-grown player who gave everything for the shirt over a long period of time. The fact that for a brief period he was one of the first names on the team sheet of a very successful United side ought to count in his favour when we remember him as a player. As well as the determination and dignity with which he handled the disastrous intervention of illness in his career.

My enduring Fletcher memory was his superb performance against Arsenal in the CL semi-final in 2009, followed by the unbelievable restraint with which he reacted to being unjustly sent off (thanks to Fabregas) and therefore denied a place in the final.

I always wonder what it is that makes people seem to go out of their way to ignore all the good games Fletcher had for us. They make excuses for other players but are all too happy to wash their hands of him. I'm glad other people on here remember just how good he was pre-illness.

All I can say is that I hope he keeps posting on La Liga thread. Good luck, Fletch!

Okay, I wouldn't call him that. I still don't understand why so many of our fans seem more in a hurry to emphasise his limitations (to say the least in some cases) rather than give him the qualified credit he deserves.

This should be the Darren The King Fletcher appreciation thread.

Good luck, Fletcher.

Just to clarify, this is to appreciate the fact that he's finally left right?

I was quite fond of Fletcher and he was a faithful servant, I only took issue with the statement he was a legend.

Nothing else
