Also to add..this "being" may not be a robot or even a physical entity. However it could just be an intelligence "out there" which is able to govern and take control of technology such as drones, robots, defense systems etc...

We can barely control the internet...and that's man made..and I would say pretty much out of control...with no real means of getting a grasp of it,

Hang on a minute, what exactly is the internet getting up that isn't directly instructed by humans??

See, it couldnt even work out I'd missed a word out of my sentence

Surely any output from a machine has to be programmed by it's creator, which will always lead to limitations.
======================================================
Well, yes and no.
I agree with Lefty, that machines are already being to taught to recognise problems and self-program the resolution. So although they were originally programmed, they end up doing things that weren’t programmed by a human.
Where I disagree is that that this might lead them to start recognising humans as a problem, and trying to work out a way to eliminate them, or blackmail them.

Yes but that's being programmed to fix a specific programme, it still has it's limitations.
Even with the ability to become self programmed (or taught), I struggle to see where it's self conciousness is coming from to see us as a threat, which I guess it where you and I do agree.

No, intelligence is the ability to use your surroundings and apply your knowledge or skills.

Yes, I think that's where we agree, Jimmy.
I agree with Lefty that they could feasibly become more intelligent than we intended them to be, but I think there are more limitations on the nature of that intelligence than Lefty does.

Yep.
Nature of that intelligence??
Got assuming we'd always control it. We won't. Unless we change our ways, we could create our own downfall
